Sound problems.

Ok i have a ASUS P8Z77-V: PCI-E 3.0 READY, WIFI, SLI, CROSSFIREX motherboard. I recently had to return my brand new pc for repair because the motherboard ram and gpu all had failures now i've just got my new computer back again the sound wont work. Now i've tried my headset and my speakers plugged them both into the ports at the back of my computer and the port at the top/front of my computer and i'm still getting nothing.

Any idea if its ANOTHER motherboard failure or is there anything settings wise i can do? Pretty sure i've checked just about every audio settings to make sure it's not muted.

Any help would be greatfull.

Try reinstalling the sound driver, then right click on the speaker icon in the right corner of the taskbar/ select playback devices, right click on your "speaker" device and make sure it's set as as default /apply.
First try setting to speakers to default if you haven't already done so.

Ok installed new sound drivers from the asus website for my motherboard, still no sound.

Taken a picture of the sound settings showing its playing sound but nothing coming out of my speakers. When i plug in the speakers its making that crackling sound as you plug them in so im assuming theres power getting to that actual port. other than that i have no idea what the problem is. As you can see its not even recognizing i've got speakers..

Is the status of the device showing ok in device manager, under "sound video and game controllers"

Also just tried plugging in my headset microphone into the back port, the computer hasn't shown it's been plugged in or anything. I dont think any of the ports on it are working...

You seem to have two drivers installed ,try disabling one at a time, then set as default by how I described.

ok disabled one, defaulted the other. no sound still. on the asus hd menu it gives me those options when i click on them it does nothing at all and my computers crashing again...

Sorry I couldn't help, one other thing I can think of for you to try is in the windows sound panel, right click on a device & select "show disabled devices" & "show disconnected devices".
but if your PC ia crashing again, best give PCS a call.

Here are two pictures of what you told me to do.

notice the realtek speakers symbol and it wont let me set that specific one to default and thats the one that uses all the ports in the back of my computer.

No idea why its saying it isnt plugged.

At least it's now showing all devices, not sure though which one should be set as default, try them one at a time.
If as you say it's one that's showing as unplugged,it could point to a driver issue, try uninstalling all sound drivers from device manager by right clicking on them, then reinstall sound driver from motherboard disk,I'm assuming you don't have a dedicated sound card and using onboard.Failing this it could be a hardware problem in which case best call PCS.
