Had PC for a few years now with no problems but now struggling with sound issues. Trying to play fortnite with my son and his voice keeps cutting out through both headphones and speaker. Have uninstalled and reinstalled drivers, tried new headsets but nothing seems to be helping.

Ok, so you're using the onboard audio card on the Z97X Gaming 3 motherboard, as I don't see an additional sound card in the spec. Can you confirm you've got all windows updates installed, including optional updates? Can you post a screenshot of your windows update page pls?

The file is too large to upload but it says that windows is up to date. all optional updates also done. downloaded new drivers via windows and also via somewhere else - sorry doing all this on behalf of my partner and he's done so much to try and fix it that he's forgotten all he's done. all fully uninstalled and reinstalled. Will a new sound card help?
Hi, So Youtube works fine. Our son is on a PS4, I am on an XBOX and my partner is on a PC and the voice comms on Fortnite keep lagging/dropping out/ not being there at all on the PC - the other devices seem fine. We ordered a new soundcard and that made not one bit of difference!
