Skype on Lafite II running Ubuntu

Recently got my 13.3" Lafité II for running Ubuntu 16.04, which has installed just fine, with everything workable, more or less as expected. Just one problem: Skype. The audio is OK, but the video is virtually unusable. Is there any fix?
