Budget is about £2000. I'm thinking Ryzen 5600 based system, but any help would be much appreciated. I have all the peripherals, so its the PC only. Thanks in advance.

Hi there!

Just a couple of extra questions to help us spec out something for you.

What specific Sim Racing game(s) are you looking to play?
What monitor do you have? Make and model or resolution and refresh rate would be helpful to know. This lets us pair an appropriate GPU to go with the monitor.

Hi! Thanks for responding . It's a HP27f monitor 1980 x 1020 and refresh rate is 75Hz. I also play in VR a lot of the time. Games include Dirt Rally2, Assetto Corsa and Competizione, the F1 games and Project Cars2.

Hi Les, welcome to the forum. Long term, would recommend getting that monitor upgraded as most modern GPUs will be bottlenecked by that screen. But the fact that you’re playing in VR means a beefy graphics card would be a sound investment. What headset will you be using?

I’ve knocked up a solid build for you that would comfortably handle your uses. Any questions, feel free to ask the hive mind 🙂👍

Thank you for that! And I take your advice on the monitor on board. I have a Rift S at the moment. Really appreciate your time, this will be my 3rd PCS machine and the forum has always been a massive source of help.

Just about to pull the trigger on this one, but taking your monitor advice, what would do this justice? I would be going for a minimum of 27 in. Again, thanks for the help.

For a 3070 you'd be looking at 1440p 144hz, either standard ratio or ultrawide (which would be amazing for a racing sim)

Gigabyte M27Q Our current go to 1440p 144hz standard ratio recommendation
Gigabyte M34WQ-EK A good 1440p 144hz flat ultrawide- @Martinr36 owns one and is very happy with it
Iiyama G-Master GB3461WQSU-B1 a 1440p 144hz ultrawide which I believe to have the same panel as the Gigabyte UW but is considerably cheaper
AOC CU34G2X Another 1440p 144hz ultrawide option, it's curved so will have better immersion but it's a VA panel which is generally considered as inferior to IPS (which the above 3 are) @AgentCooper owns this one and has reported good things

Good roundup from @JUNI0R there, although I resent the use of the word inferior when it comes to talking about my monitor 😜

@Les Whyte - for your uses you want to ensure your monitor has a fast response time. None of this 4 milliseconds nonsense, you want it as low as possible. If you’re in a race time is crucial and you don’t want any ghosting messing you around.

Let us know what you get, and be sure to post some pics when your setup is complete! 🙂👍

A fine choice, El Diablo (I’ve decided to give you all nicknames… I can’t tell you the one I’ve just given @JUNI0R as this is a family friendly forum).
El Diablo?... I like it!:devilish: And the latest update is I've just placed my order for the PCS system you lads suggested. Couple of weeks built time unfortunately, but I'll let you know how it goes. Cheers, boys!!!:giggle::giggle:
