Its incredibly quick these days, takes about 30 mins to be fully set up again

Of the two media that i can use which would you recommend, dvd or usb, im going to have to get one to do clean install

You need to use the latest from Microsoft, ont use an old image as it will be hugely out of date, the Microsoft tool creates the USB automatically

Trying to source this online and Microsoft are only doing downloads, finding it on usb is near as dammit..........

No, you use the micrsoft tool and it burns directly to USB

Download Windows 11

Update, Just to advise that I managed to do a clean install and the problem is long gone, though i was missing the TPM and managed to source one and install it and everything is as good as new now.. Final thanks for all your assistance in sorting this issue out.
