Shutdown and restart

So since the 17/03/2023, we've got Kernel Event ID's relating to "System has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first".

This means it's not managing to power off, it's crashing with black screen and then autorestarting. So @ubuysa was correct on that.

Something catastrophic happened at around 10:23 on the 18/04 which cause major issues (event ID 7001) which all look related to the network/bluetooth, where the services are failing to start. It's possible it's related to simply the network being unavailable at that time, I'm not certain, but that seems significant.

We need to verify it's not an app causing the crash on shutdown, so far we're only looking at the system logs related to system hardware.

Can you also upload your Application event logs in the same manor, then we can check for errors that correspond with these dates and times?

The only corresponding application error I can see is Event ID 13, for the VSS (Volume Shadow Service)

Volume Shadow Copy Service information: The COM Server with CLSID {4e14fba2-2e22-11d1-9964-00c04fbbb345} and name CEventSystem cannot be started. [0x8007045b, A system shutdown is in progress.
]

I think this could potentially be a cause of the crashes outside of normal shutdown.

Can you right click on the start button, select run, and type winver and post a screenshot?

There are a fair few of these too.

I would shut down/disable/incinerate Avast before shutting Windows down and see what happens

I wouldn't bet against this being related....
I'm so glad you hopped on, that didn't come up on my search, must have put in the wrong criteria!

That's more than likely!

I would definitely uninstall Avast, it's pretty awful anyway, windows defender is far better.

Unfortunately though, it also appears your windows isn't registered?

Ahhhhh well one of the things i did was to enable and re enable avast virus and firewall with no luck I then removed avast from the system and installed a different one today, and still have no effect with this error.

Im thinking if i have to do a re install of windows then its not a problem, but earlier i was unaware whether it was software or hardware. soo

You don't need any third party AV, windows defender is amongst the best and causes so few problems compared to others.

3rd party AV is really a dead enterprise these days like on Macs.

Yeah i think ill go down the win re install. Do you mind if i ask, are both of you anything to do with the technical support for pc specialist, because if you are seperate i can still run this by them, as im still in warranty.

Were not connected to PCS in anyway. We're just here to try to fix things before having to send them back for RMA.

9 times out of 10 it's a software issue which is easily fixable.

FYI: Right-click on the saved log and select 'Create Custom view...'. In the dialog that opens (there is a short delay) check Critical, Error and Warning, then click OK. This gets rid of the plethora of information messages that make reading these logs such a pain.

Not forgetting of course that sometimes the clue is in those information messages.....

A windows reset won't sort the issue, you need to do a clean install
