Ryzen 7 9800X3D next month?

If confirmed, it may lead to a lovely desktop when I'll be back home in November (money and wife permitting).

Oh wow! That is good news if it's true and IMHO SORELY NEEDED for AMD's reputation.

The previous rumours that they would announce them at CES in January was far too late, I thought and would hurt them in the long run.

I would take it with a pinch of salt in honesty. September was leaked last month. With the poor showing from the latest AMD release I thought it made sense. Then it didn't show and CES was being mentioned.

I think the potential is there, I think AMD are just weighing up their options. Whenever they release, it needs to be flawless and not filled with wind on the expectations.

Just read that article. My head is hurting with how poorly it's written. Is AI writing everything nowadays; with someone at the end just signing it?

The big eyebrow raiser for me is the claim it's going to be the 9800X3D first. I am really surprised by that, and I would be absolutely amazed if it were the case. The 9800X3D is the one we're waiting on, make no mistake. The others will only be of interest to people outside of the know IMO. Very few knowledgeable people will actively choose the other chips. With the 7000 series launch AMD were clever by selling the higher end parts first, opting to get the sales of the expensive parts from the early adopters.

If it does work out this way it's a huge win for the consumers IMO. I can't see AMD actively hurting the profits like this though. If it said the 9950X3D was out first at the end of October with Jan 25 seeing the 9800X3D, this would be far less eyebrow raising..... as much as it is teasing and frustrating for any new purchasers.

I hadn't actually read it, but totally feel you on the AI writing.

XDA Developers who I used to be an active member of back in the late 2000's testing custom ROMs on the old windows mobile handsets like the classic HTC Universal which was incredible for the time, when GPS systems were little USB devices that plugged into the micro USB port. But you could attach a USB hard drive to this thing, it really was a micro computer, let down by the totally outdated windows mobile platform.

But XDA were the leaders in custom ROMs, and really highly reputed in the industry. A lot of their ROM developers were snapped up eventually by people like Apple and Google.

Then they posted these 2 articles and I knew instantly how far they'd fallen!!!

And then another one they posted on twitter saying how to add up the TDP of your components to select a damn PSU!!! I was shocked and left some very pointed reply accusing them of disinformation. Interestingly, I was searching my replies for that post, and even went over XDAs history back for a good month (it was only a couple of weeks ago) and it does look like they've deleted the tweet which I wasn't expecting, they must have had some heavy backlash on that.

I was very active on XDA myself. I wasn't a Windows guy though, it was almost always Samsung (even pre-Android) that I was playing with.

It was an amazing forum and resource. It grew so much. That's a real shame to know it's gone that way.... everything seems to head in the same direction now.

Mind numbing.

The leaps in AI are magnificent but it's also destroying our humanity when it comes to interaction. A personal touch will always go a long way. Considered and Personal need removed from the dictionary.

From what I remember they were one and the same 😂😂😂
Yes, in general, however in my situation, as the one who brings the food home, she usually doesn't grumble too much about the extra expenses (especially when she can benefit from it as well). :ROFLMAO:

Clearly, not being a native, I lack the knowledge to comment on the grammatical form of the article; but, the news published on Tom's Italia website is flawlessly written.

In general, I agree with @Scott about the oddity of launching the Ryzen 7 first, but it could also be an AMD strategy to maintain the advantage over INTEL (which is expected to release Arrow Lake next month, if I'm not mistaken) and for the fact that the 9800X3D should be no different from the 9700X aside from additional cache, whereas the big brothers 9900X3D and 9950X3D should introduce additional features besides the 3D V-cache.

Obviously, we're still talking about leaks, and AMD has not made any official announcements for now. :)

It's a very strange move if true, but I'll definitely take it. I'm looking forward to see what the improvements are like.

I'm waiting for the X4D version as I want to ensure it's future proof ;)

But it does make you wonder if they've slashed/cancelled 7800X3D production to use the X3D lines to ramp up these...as I don't think anything else in the 9000 series is lighting the world on fire.

Anywhere from 1-26% increase over 7800X3D - average 8% geomean over 40 games tested. 1-59% faster than the Intel 285K - average 20% - over the same 40 game run.

If it's more than 10% more expensive than the 7800X3D then they're going have to ramp up the 7800X3D lines again ;)

Certainly glad I held off ordering when the 7800X3D was still in stock a few months ago.
