I appreciate you asking the question as it's something I've been asked a lot lately.

the 3070 has been coming in a lot quicker than the 3080 and 3090 graphics cards, but you have to factor in the amount of orders that have been placed with a 3070 included, this pretty much brings the 3070 in to similar territory of the other 3000 series cards.

It is an RTX 2080Ti in a cheaper package after all, so we understand why it is so popular.

As of right now NVIDIA hold the monopoly on graphics cards, you have no other alternative until we know more details about the AMD 6000 series in the coming days. I wouldn't recommend opting for an older generation NVIDA 2000 series or an AMD 57## as these are due to be end of lined and you are going to spend money on outdated tech.

The situation is a double edged sword but it will be much better given time.

On 40 working day pre-production now and thought the email telling me the automated emails are stopping was going to be good news 😥 surely cant be much longer

I wonder if the observed average wait of 35-40 working days per order is correct for most of us with 3000 series cards? Seems like that is a somewhat good preliminary number, or should we not trust it too much?

I'm currently on 34 working days at moment but not going to get my hopes up with it being done within the 35/40 working days.
Would be nice to get it before Christmas fingers crossed.

I would hope that around 40 days is the average wait period, seems like some people got their rigs at least into building by then, hopefully the people cancelling their orders because of AMD gpus, outside sourced gpus and other reasons will let us push through faster. And maybe nvidia has more stock incoming to battle out the big navi launch. All hopes everywhere haha

The automated emailing system for estimated build times had been introduced during the lockdown periods, this helped customers gauge accurately where they stood in a queue to receive their order. This is also when we had low staffing levels and upwards of 20-25 working day wait times, it worked extremely well and kept customers well in the loop.


Unfortunately this system did not include pre-order items and it was giving customers updates based on arbitrary values, so essentially a never ending sequence of "your order is due to be built on ##-##-####".

This has been stopped in the recent email update that you have received so any build information will now be accurate to an actual build date. The flipside of removing this system is that you will unlikely receive any updates until a card is allocated to your build and the process has begun.

Just remember, we are at the mercy of suppliers who are also at the mercy of NVIDIA. It's unchartered territory for all involved and we will certainly be using it as a learning experience.

Keep your head held high guys and we will get your cards out with your order at the earliest date possible, we don't have time to rest at PCSpecialist but if it means getting systems out with no delay, then we will do it.

So my out of the blue automated estimated build date received Friday morning for the 16th Nov for my build could be pretty accurate to latest info

How come you're on 46 days with the 5900x when you could only order it from last week?

If you change the GPU which is on the longest pre-order then maybe, but other parts should be ok. I did order mid october myself with intel CPU and a strix 3080 and changed to a ryzen 5900X after they were released and I was told that there isn't a separate queue for the gpu, they use the original order date as your "queue", or at least the system does

Long story but I had an order put through before the release, the GPU was marked as 'awaiting gpu launch' on the order so that I could change it after the release date. There's certainly conflicting information flying around, but I was given the impression that changing the GPU in this way wouldn't affect the build. Whether that's true or not is anyone's guess!

If it arrived at around 6:30am, it'd be the last of the automated ones. If it arrived at some point during the actual working day, it may be genuine.

I got an estimated build date email this morning at 6:35, saying Thursday 19th. I ordered on 8th October so I don't think the automated emails have stopped.

PSA: There really are other retailers with cards in stock for custom builds. If you’re 40 days in with no sign of a build date, you have options.

I would urge caution. It's easy for someone to say they have cards in stock now, though if they do they can't have a very full order book because all system integrators are in exactly the same boat as PCS as far as deliveries are concerned. If you think another company will build your PC faster then by all means cancel and go there, but be 100% certain they really do have stock before you jump.

Yeah, speaking from personal experience though at least one competitor’s configurator only lists the parts they have in stock. Mine was built and arrived within two weeks.
