RMA WAIT TIMES?!?!?!

Has anyone got an recent experience with the RMA department im losing my head

My broke 8 months after receiving it, absolutely gutted. Anyway its been sent off for RMA its in warranty still but i had to pay £50 overall to get it sent back. In the box they sent my i legit received two bits of styrofoam and a box. Hopefully my pc makes it there in one piece, i packed out the inside with some paper hopefully that does it.

lets get to the point. My pc has now been with them since the 10th of november 10/11/20, thats 10 days going on 11, i was under the impression that it would take two weeks. But im at 10 days with absolutely 0 feedback its so frustrating, and ontop of that the call times if you dont get on the phone bang on open take all day. Im finding this process really annoying baring in mine how much i spent on my pc how quickly its broken and i havent even abused it. im worried something happesn after warranty now. i've only got a few months left and what if its a back and forth process a month at a time...

RMAs are being quoted at about 3 weeks at the moment.

Re the cost of return - that is why they offer warranties that also include the return. It was only a fiver to secure 1 year of returns paid for.

At the moment it's normally around 1 month for an RMA.

not sure mate haha, tried to turn it on one day and it didn't, PSU fan didnt spin the only feedback i got back from the thing was a spark noise when i would plug in the kettle lead. Really sucks, took out the 12v and put it back but no joy

ahh no way i didnt realise it was a fiver, wish i bought the 3 years at this rate. dont know what im going to do if it goes again

Was there any lead up to it, like any pop or sizzle sound or even quite a loud bang? There were a batch of faulty PSU's which Corsair are aware of, I'm hoping it was one of those as that's a really easy fix.

Next time come on here and we can help narrow down the fault, rather than having to send the whole thing back, usually we can pinpoint the faulty component and get PCS to just ship a replacement next day.

ahh no way i didnt realise it was a fiver, wish i bought the 3 years at this rate. dont know what im going to do if it goes again

Ahh damnit i wish id have done that, funnily enough though there were no noises or anything of such leading up to it. Was on it in the day, turned it off went back later and it was dead. It was a Corsair PSU so that may well have been the problem, i did sort of diagnose that with someone over the phone on the helpline, only found the forums recently through trying to find an answer with RMA online. Will definitely be coming here next time. Still probably have a few weeks to wait :/ atleast it will get checked if anything else went wrong with it, or if it was infact the PSU.

Never mind, next time you know. Fingers crossed it is the PSU because that’s really quick to diagnose and swap out so once they get to it it should be a quick turn around.

Sorry yer PC has died mate, dont forget that working days (unless PCS has recently changed them), is Mon-Fri. Hopefully they'll get your machine back to you ASAP.

Consider yourself lucky - I've been waiting 34 days for DPD Ireland to collect a desktop which was broken on arrival. Pictures attached. A replacement is built but they are refusing to send it until they receive back the original. 8 hours + of calls and 22 email exchanges and no closer to getting the desktop I purchased in early September.

Why aren't DPD collecting the broken one?

Apparently DPD UK can't pass simple instructions to DPD Ireland, and PC Specialist refuse to either order directly from DPD Ireland or another courier. I don't want to return it directly myself as I don't want to breach anything surrounding either my consumer rights or PC Specialists own T&Cs. Interestingly, based on their returns policy sections 6.11 and 6.13:

We will process a repair, replacement or refund as soon as possible and, in any case, within 30 days of the day you confirm whether you opt for repair or replacement...

For any returns due to damage or suspected faults, we will arrange for collection at our cost within the first month after receipt


So I'm now outside that first month.

For my current call; number 8, and 90 minutes waiting so far, I'll be pointing all of this out to them plus my rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 - 35 days helps one become quite the legal expert on these things!
