1. Power on the system.
2. Click Start.
3. Click All Programs.
4. Click Intel® Matrix Storage Manager.
5. Click Intel® Matrix Storage Console.
6. Click on the View menu and select Advanced Mode.
7. Right-click on the non-RAID hard drive in the device tree and select Rebuild to this Hard Drive.

Cheers daryl - I'm on 'an' Intel site now, looking things up.

Re above list of procedures - I got that far myself, but it's part 7 that I fell down. There is no option anywhere, in the tree/actions etc that allow me to select "Rebuild to this hard drive".
- The existing drive (from old RAID) the only option is to "Activate Port LED"
- The new/replacement drive I only have options to "Activate Port LED" or "Mark as spare".

I'm still looking. :(

I've not made any changes - will hopefully get a tech walk-through this Saturday - but the problem has escalated.

My computer, running on the 1 boot drive, now failed to boot/kept rebooting this evening. Most of the time it ended on a black screen with 2 lines of white text at the top starting with "Intel(R) Matrix Storage..." before finally rebooting itself.
After about a hour I eventually got into Windows Start-up Repair > System Restore. The system then loaded, albeit very slowly, on boot. I've not dare turn it off until I emailed and posted here!

The computer has been slow to boot, and also constantly repairing/rebuilding RAID (when it existed) from day 1. I presume there is a serious problem(s) somewhere that needs to be be addressed :(

I understand that you cannot call us until Saturday, therefore I would recommend you backup your important data in the meantime. Hopefully our call centre will be able to guide you through re-building your RAID on Saturday.

On the boot drive there is just one folder of photo's - I've backed that up - the rest is simply the OS, Adobe and other programs.

I can't access the data drives (one has stuff on, one is new) so I can't backup any info from there.

- I've fingers crossed for Saturday! :S

Update: It appears that either I have been incredibly unlucky in that several drives have errors, or that the Caviar Green drives are not particularly suitable for RAID 1.
- I'm awaiting Caviar Black 1TB drives with fingers crossed!
