Replacing wife's laptop for her upcoming birthday

Hi folks,

I'd like some quick advice on replacing my old laptop (full specs are in my signature), which is currently in my wife's hands.

Primary use: watch movies/TV shows/web surfing and play light games such as graphic adventures (mostly old ones), hidden objects, puzzles, and similar.
Budget: low, I would say no more than 1500€.

Note: I already have a second 1TB M.2 (Crucial P3 Plus) to install as the primary drive, and the OS licence is tied to her Microsoft account.

I'd have considered one of these two configurations.
I'd appreciate your feedback (particularly from @Tron1982 :) ) on the system's suitability.

PS. Sorry about the details in italian, but I think they're generally clear. :giggle:

So, I took a quick look (I'll do an other more in depth tomorrow)
If it was not for the bigger screen, I'd say that the ionico is the best of the two.

And a general advice, you should take the one year dead pixel guarantee

That being said, the next part, tomorrow ^^

I'm a huge fan of the AMD mobile chips personally

The model of the Ionico is: TongFang GM5HG0A (8GB RTX-4060, R7-8845HS,AW-XB591N, 240Hz QHD)
The Defiance is the brand new model: Clevo V360SNDQ (8GB RTX-4060, i7-14650HX, AX211,QHD 240Hz, Blank KB)

So it's where you prefer AMD vs Intel and Clevo vs TongFang

I think they're both quite equal really. TongFang have come a long way since the pandemic when the build quality was quite poor, they're much better these days.

The defiance can fit 3 SSD's vs the Ionico, but otherwise they're basically Clevo vs TongFang.

To be honest, I'm extremely tempted to try the Ryzen mobile; but, the new 9000 should arrive very soon, and I don't want to make a hasty decision.

On the remainder, I don't think it matters much because my wife's games run even on a 5-year-old tablet; the heaviest are the graphic adventures like Syberia, Gabriel Knight, Broken Sword, and so on, which are already a thousand years old. :ROFLMAO:

Hello,

After a quick research, it looks like that the intel cpu may be better than the amd one, but as always, more power hungry.
So, the defiance battery life will be more shorter than the ionico (bigger battery and less power hungry cpu).

The defiance has RGB and the ionico does not, so better gaming perfomance for the defiance ... That's all I have to say XD

Joke aside, I think the 2 laptops are good.

The screen is slightly better in the Defiance chassis, the ram is a little bit slower (but you could also provide your own at 5600MHz if you want - or give a call to pcs, just to be sure), the battery is not good and if I'm not wrong, the (slightly better) webcam does not have windows hello (if it matter to you). And I'm not sure about the wifi card, but the defiance seems to have a better bluetooth connection.

The Ionico has a better battery, a better ram in the configurator, and weight less.

So, I think the Defiance may me slightly better.

And about the tablet games, that's funny and cute. Classic adventure games have their magic that doesn't get old!

Tablet games, to be honest, are not my thing. :ROFLMAO:

I grew up playing point-and-click adventures; it's a pity that the genre is nearly extinct today. :(
I got her the full Sherlock Holmes series to try out.

There's a few companies putting out point-and-click adventures and there's still quite a few new games in the genre coming out on a regular basis.

I feel like the best company in P&C adventures these days is Wadget Eye Games - I've really enjoyed all of their released games and have my eye on two of their upcoming releases.
