Its abit mixed in copy and paste but from what I can see looks great its best not to mix ram as the timings may be off and cause issues for your uses tho no need for 5950x cpu a 5900x is more then enough 5950x for gaming is a waste of money its more for heavy production work

Also, an older system ram would normally be ddr3 which isn't compatible with modern motherboards.

What software suite do you use on the PC for movies? Or are you just playing back BluRays?

What monitor are you pairing it with, what resolution and refresh rate or make and model if you're unsure?
I’ll be using PLEX for movies and LG C9 77 tv for games and movies.
The RAM I have is ddr4, sadly I’d very recently purchased an sn750 2tb nvme ssd, m.2 gen 3, but it will do me for now.

Good information. I’ll change back to the 5900x.

What's your current build then? Why ate you looking to replace it so soon?

I'm a plex user although stream at 1080p, but I have some knowledge on its requirements. Hands down the best media server in the history of media players!

Long story, which I won’t bore you with on here.
I agree with you on plex too.

Ok, no worries.

If you want the 5950x which would in all honesty be handy for 4k Transcoding, it's the processor I'm looking at for my next Plex Server / Gaming PC, then I'd suggest upping the motherboard to the Hero, reason being is that it has far more robust VRM support which will lead to better long term boost clocks.

You'd need to up the cooler to a minimum of the H115i Capellix, you really need a 280mm or even 360mm radiator on that processor.

Up the wifi card to the AX200, it's only about £10 more expensive but has support for modern standards, the one you've currently selected is wireless N which came around back in 2009.

The rest is all gravy though, looks a lovely rig, very similar to what I'm going to be aiming for (y)

When it comes to if you need a 5950 or not I would take spyders advice over my own as hes more knowledgeable on this matter !
