Remove pc specialist logo on startup

AFAIK you cannot flash the BIOS firmware via Windows Update. On an Intel build you can update the Intel Management Engine via Windows Update, which is an Intel firmware update, but that's not your BIOS.

Do you have an example of a Windows Update that flashes the BIOS? I've never ever seen one but would be interested to know if such a thing exists. I can't quite imagine how it would work though... :)
well i think i might be wrong, but i could have swear that i have received some updates on pc that were flashing something. Definitely was not the usual update. In that case i take my word back

I'm not saying you're wrong. There are more things in Heaven and Earth... I'd just be very surprised. I can't envisage how Windows could flash the BIOS whilst it's still using it....

Reason 1. Because (even today) you can brick a PC/laptop if you flash the wrong image or in the wrong way.

Reason 2. Just because a board vendor supplies a new BIOS doesn't automatically mean you need it. The update might be to support (or fix support) for a device you don't have.

Reason 3. You implicitly accept the Terms & Conditions when you buy from PCS and they require you to seek their authorisation.
I dont agree with point 2, some bios updates tend to give you the "highlights" not all the fixes.

And most board makers will also deny you warranty if you dont keep up with it ironically enough

In this case it contains fixes for the USB issues that plague most ryzen series

Bear in mind. Smart access memory is one of the features they released during the latest bouts of bios updates

I'd be very surprised if you have. But I've been surprised before... :)

Its not uncommon. And can be done

That's interesting but it talks about a 'System Hardware Update' which has been assumed to be a BIOS update. It might well not be, there is other firmware on a board other than the BIOS, the Intel ME mentioned earlier for example.

This DELL site also talks about a BIOS update via Windows Update, but the poster has kindly provided the Windows Update screenshot. Here it is....

Note that it says 'Firmware' update and not BIOS update. Again, the BIOS is not the only firmware on a PC or laptop ....

I know. But i can understand where the confusion may come from. If you own both a laptop and a desktop there is a chance you see this firmware update on a windows update screen
yeah it might be on one of the laptops i have that i seen that update

No but firmware is firmware.. if they can push a firmware update for another board conponent its not far reached that it could be done for the bios (and some have done it)

You also assume its not a bios as i assume it is 😄

So impossible... no.. improbable.. yes

I try to never assume. :)

Firmware is a general term, BIOS is a specific term. If I see one that says BIOS update I'll be convinced. :)

Yeah bios.. basic input output system

A bios firmware is still firmware as you said its a update on a hardware component level independent from the os.

If they pushed it on laptops they can push it on desktops. Again its improbable but doable

Same way asus will allow you to update bios via its own tools. It loads it up and does a restart which then puts you in the firmware screen to update the bios ez flash is what its called IIRC

hmmmm maybe I have totally misread the whole thread given that its got to two pages already, but surely

Enter the Bios
Select Boot Menu
Select Boot Configuration
Set Display Boot Logo to "Disabled"

would be a very simple way to resolve the OP's problem, without any need to flash the Bios, or have concerns over warranty issues

Alternatively:

turn on machine

Blink

Windows appears and you've missed the logo :D

That only works if you get your blinking in sequence. Get it wrong and the PCS logo maybe the only thing you see on the boot startup.

Thus if thats the only thing you see between blinks, then logically removing it will require less blinking maybe ;)

Sure, people can also not change any of the RGB settings or change a wallpaper. But if they want to do it why shouldn't they?

Nothing in my machine is a "pc specialist only" part so why do i need the logo.. my warranty is voided anyway as i changed the case so if the system has no warranty and no parts of them i see no reason to have a logo

Same way i remove the sticker my dealership puts on my backwindow when i buy a new car. I own it so i can do with it as i wish
