Recommendations/RAM Modules

Hi all!

Hope you're all good.

Pretty set on a Ryzen CPU (for gaming) as it seems to dominate the Intel alternatives in the benchmarks, this restricts me to the Nova chassis, but it doesn't look like that's a bad thing at all! Just wanted to float this set up to double check I'm not missing something obvious!

Also, what difference does having the 16GB of RAM on 1 module, against splitting across 2? I'm assuming having it on 1 allows a spare slot for upgrading?

Any help/suggestions/reassurance would hugely appreciated.

It does allow a spare slot for upgrading, but it also means that your 16gb will be running in a single channel. You lose around 20-30% effectiveness running on a single channel compared to dual chanell (eg 2x8gb)

I'd always recommend going for dual channel with the highest MHZ available.

As Raypat said. Unless you are seriously thinking of doing stuff that requires more RAM in the next couple of years then go with two sticks. By the time games need more than 16 GB it is likely the laptop will need replacing anyway.

Really useful, thanks a lot guys!

Looks like I'll go ahead with the above with duel channel then.

Now the painful wait for the Nova w/ 2070 to come in to stock!
