I just update the outdated drivers through third party driver updater software and I got the office mode and the fan control. But the nvidia control panel was not properly installed so I installed again through geforce experience and the office mode and all that disapeared again.

Personally, i made an installation of all software from scratch. No ge force experience and no gaming control center. If you have time make a clean installation of windows and only drivers . then perform the test. If works then you can install the rest of software you want. Do not download drivers from pcspecialists download page but from vendor site. Install only nvidia geforce at a minimum.

I tryed it, but no luck. I made new clean w10 install I download intel graphics and chipset drivers from intel download site and lastest nvidia drivers from nvidia site and it's not working

I have also tried that but make no difference and physx is set up correctly

What i'm understand:


An external monitor is connected directly to the GTX 2070.
The integrated GPU is never used in this case because there is a direct connection to the dedicated card. This is my case (task manager also show me that all work is bound to dedicated GPU).
All graphic functions are delegated to the RTX 2070 card (including desktop rendering and all basics).

If you don't have an external monitor, the laptop display is connected directly to the integrated GPU (you also can see this from image in the nvidia control panel).
Consider that all frames, to get to the laptop monitor must pass from the integrated GPU, even if it is RTX 2070 to do some of the the job.
This is inevitable due to the physical wiring in the hardware.
From what I understand, no matter how much work can be done on the dedicated card, a minimum amount of work will always be done by the integrated GPU and will always act as an intermediary with the monitor.
In this sense, it is certainly a less performing solution than having a monitor connected directly on the dedicated card.
Here things get a little more complicated and Optimus technology comes into play.
Optimus tries to automatically understand when to use the integrated GPU or when to do some work on the dedicated card.
I tried to unplug the external monitor and tried all the configuration combinations but it doesn't work, the performance decreases (tried with basemark, no 3dmark). With the external monitor connected directly, it works.
Some laptops allow you to disable the integrated GPU from the bios in order to use the dedicated GPU for all functions, but it seems that our bios does not have this option.
Maybe because no other wiring are available other then passing from integrated gpu.

Finally i think the problem is Optimus, that when using the laptop display (direct connection with integrated GPU) it does not use all the functions of the dedicated card.
It is true that you have selected RTX 2070 as a PhysX processor, but if you see the image in the nvidia control panel, PhysX is still set to the output connectors of the dedicated card, i'm not sure that can be used.
It is however a more general problem: "the dedicated card cannot work at maximum optimization (in some sort) when the connection is direct with the integrated GPU and can only pass through it".

now the question is: when you got a high score in the 3dmark benchmark were you connected to an external monitor?
I'm not sure if 3dmark is monitor agnostic when perform bechmark (i made tests with basemark) but above consideration are valid when you play game.

I get the high score with only laptop screen, I tried to switch ram modules, unplug and plug the battery and it worked the first time, I get 7200 in time spy but tgen I restarted the laptop and now is not working properly again

What settings have you for followings?

Nvidia control panel -> 3d settings -> preferred graphic processor
Nvidia control panel -> 3d settings -> power management mode
Nvidia control panel -> configure sorround physx -> physx processor
Nvidia control panel -> configure sorround physx -> dedicate to physx

prefer maximum performance
geforce RTX 2070
dedicate to PhysX (box checked)

Anyway turing nvidia driver suffer for Optimus dynamics with consequences in low performance.

And is sure that connecting external monitor directly to RTX disable Optimus, eliminating problems.
Maybe with new driver version these problem will be fixed, but is definitely an Optimus issue.

With my external displays disconnected and after a reboot, I get a time spy score of 7755 with a graphics score of 7975. So while it may be an issue to be aware of, it doesn't seem to affect everyone.

I noticed that the few times it was working it stoped working after a laptop restart. maybe is a bios problem.

I give up, to my understanding my laptop suffers from overheating which limits its performance and will shorten its lifespan. I tried going through PCS support to determine what the problem is but it will take time, and my feeling is that it's some hardware problem. I can't be bothered to be honest, good that I can return this item. Good luck sorting this out guys, thanks for all help

I think the problem is the gpu voltatge because when it'snot working the voltatge is between 0.6 and 1.0 with a very low consistency an when it works the gpu voltatge is consistent between 0.8 and 1.2. How can check if the power brick works correctly?

I FIND A NON MERMANENT SOLUTION FOR ME!! whe I start the computer is not working properly but after start I unplug the charger close the screen and wait for the fans to stop, open the screen log in to windows and plug the charger. Then works perfectly until I restart the computer then I have to do this again in order to make it work.

Sorry, I don't need to unplug the charger I only need to close the screen after laptop first start wait for the fans to stop and then login to windows again.

I believe that closing the screen of the laptop goes into suspension (or hibernation). when it resumes from the suspension something different happens compared to the restart.

Have you (all) tried disabling fast startup in Windows? It's known to mess with motherboards that don't play well with it. It's worth a try anyway, especially given some of the workarounds being suggested.

I can agree that by closing the lid and putting the laptop into suspension then opening the lid again does alter the performance significantly.


3D Mark Firestrike increased from 14900 to 17500 by this simple trick. Dont know what the issues is - tied to enable / disable fast boot - found this to be off any way.

Recoil III with RTX 2070..just had it 3 days....
