Recoil II - keys sticking when pressed while gaming

Not sure if it's due to my post today, but I've had an email through now to say that it's been repaired and is ready for dispatch. Hurrah!

It's now in the post with confirmation that the keyboard was indeed replaced - which throws up the question about why the person on the phone said it was part of the chassis? Either way, should be at my local pick up point tomorrow afternoon!

My final update, the keyboard feels completely different, not just the problem keys that I had before but all of the keys feel more responsive (although it could just be my memory playing up!). The screen is better than I remember as well after having gone back to my old laptop. I've undervolted the CPU and the fans are less noisy, games are all running as expected too. It looks like my problems are all sorted out. :)

A bit of a roller-coaster there due to the uncertainty of having to return the laptop, but it's all sorted out now and fingers crossed it will stay that way! :)

I feel for you - PCS had to swap my first Defiance II as the first one was both faulty and badly built. Fair play to them though - they didn't quibble and it was done in a week, but that week without it felt a lot longer.

But...well worth it in the end. I am sure you will enjoy the end result.

I don't know this for sure, but I suspect the keyboard is not an easily user replaceable part, hence the 'it's part of the chassis' comment. :)

Very glad it's all sorted. :clap:

Back in the day, IBM made a thinkpad laptop with a "butterfly" keyboard. When you opened the lid, the keyboard lifted, expanded out to almost full size, then dropped back into place.

It was a really nice thing to use and very, very, clever, but when it came to repairing it, it was an absolute nightmare - it was so incredibly fiddly to remove, so I can easily buy into this, for this laptop.

Hi, sorry to thread bump, but I also recently ordered and received a Recoil II with a sticky key issue, and also the touch pad felt a bit loose/not firm (and OS was installed on the wrong HDD).

Similar story to you, I have RMAd, the laptop for either a refund, or for the issues to be fixed. It actually arrived Friday morning before 9am back at PC Specialist HQ, but the RMA on my account says 'Awaiting Dispatch'.

How long was your laptop gone before the RMA was complete and it was returned?
