Recoil 16"

Hi everyone,
I am currently considering getting recoil 16 with the following specs:

However as I am always on the go I am thinking to skip the liquid cooling, I have read on few topics that this laptop overall and case gets quite hot without that or external cooler station, so wanted to get some opinions whether it's performing well without the liquid cooling?
Thanks

Hello,
It's true that the recoil chassis (both 16 and 17") run hot and make sound when not plugged to the "optional but obligatory to run the laptop at his full capacities" external cooler station ...
So, if you're on the move, you may want to take a look at the ionico 16". It's true that the GPU will be less powerfull, but you will not need any kind of external cooler ...

Oh, to answer clearly your question, the recoil will perform not bad, not good, as it will throttle quite often ...

I hope i answered your question

Really appreciate your reply. What would you recommend me 16” so that it’s with perfect specs and runs quite well without external coolers. I mean i will get a fan station but don’t really want to get external liquid one. Are the already built laptops better in terms of cooling? Sound doesn’t bother me much as long as the laptop runs quite well without overheating issues or much throttling so really confused whether the get recoil or different laptop at all

Hi everyone,
Can you please recommend me the best choice and specs from PCs for 15-16" around £2,000-2,300. I was thinking to get the 16" recoil, as the most powerful from the options with the following, but I definitely don't want to get the liquid cooling and it may overheat often or throttle without it. I will probably use fan stand at home, but travel a lot so still important to be good enough without external coolers. The specs I was considering were:

A bit confused how good the recoil will operate without the liquid cooling. Are there better options from Pcspecialist ?
Thanks

The only non liquid cooling option over 15" is the Elimina Pro, but that's run out of stocks with any decent GPU. Otherwise all the performance gaming laptops require the liquid cooler.

Thanks for your reply. What about the 16” Ionico ?Still needs external liquid cooling? Im looking for very decent option which would work very good without external cooling even though at home I will have fan stand for it?

The ionico 16 is a clevo with a vapor chamber, so it does not need any external water cooling solution ^^
That’s so helpful. Is it still not better to have the recoil even though some of the times it won’t be used with the cooling? I think even without the cooling it will perform better than the ionico having in mind that it will have higher specs or that’s not correct ? 🙏

No, it will heavily throttle without the cooler.

so it will either be recoil 16 used mainly without the cooling with the following specs for £2,303:

or the Ionico 16 with the following specs for £1,823

I think best will be one of those two.

For reference, its easier if you use this method please for posting spec and also post the URL link you see created when doing this as it helps when we want to maybe make suggestions / tweaks for you.

that answers the last post I have posted a second ago then. Thanks a lot!
There's a video here on the recoil and expected performance on and off the cooler.

Thanks will do in future. If you have any suggestions feel free to let me know though. :)

I get you, but one person may think ionico is better , someone else may think recoil is better so …
Better for what? We have no idea laptop you are coming from, what work or games you intend to do or what componants of the old computer are lacking in performance and need relative upgrading in the new laptop.
I have just upraded from a 10+ year old Vortex III to the 16" Ionica. According to testing, the Ionica is about 10 times more powerful than the Vortex but I do not see it that way. I now have a laptop which is compatible with modern software and should last a few years. I do video editing but am not a gamer so maximum power is not really one of my considerations.

So just what do you need?
32GB (2x16) is usually enough for most people.
If you go away with the laptop I would suggest making sure you have enough drive storage. These days 500GB is recommended for the OS drive and 2TB (say) as a data drive. However, you may wish to increase the OS drive just to increase the overall capacity. For the OS drive I would recomend the SOLIDIGM P44 PRO GEN 4 (up to 7000MB/sR, 6500MB/sW) and a SOLIDIGM P41 GEN 4 (4125MB/sR, 3325MB/sW) for the data drive.
Ultimately your choice may depend on your gaming and whether you require an RTX4080 or above. In that case over to you.

Totally agree with this....even though I got 64gb in my laptop :D LOL - I've only ever used more than 32 once - that was "stitching" several pictures together on Adobe LR/PS.

Also agree with the comments on the hard drive.

I would have amended a spec but didnt have the links :D :D LOL
