Re-case my pc for an abroad trip

Hello! long time on here. I am posting to try and get some help. I currently have a pc I bought from here and due to unfortunate circumstances I must live abroad for 6 months to help while my partner tends her sick mother.

I need to bring my workstation with me which is a nightmare as it is huge. I want to change the case to a smaller pc case - I was looking at Fractal nodes and they look small enough for carry on plane luggage.

I am pretty tech savy but never built a pc myself. was hoping on guidance for what is the smallest case I could pack my spec into, best practices to pack it and also any maintance I could do on it while re-casing? repaste etc..

this is my spec:

Case
THERMALTAKE CORE X71 TEMPERED GLASS EDITION GAMING CASE

Processor (CPU)
AMD Ryzen 9 5950X 16 Core CPU (3.4GHz-4.9GHz/72MB CACHE/AM4)

Motherboard
ASUS® CROSSHAIR VIII HERO WIFI (DDR4, PCIe 4.0, CrossFireX/SLI) - RGB Ready!

Memory (RAM)
Change to: 64GB Corsair VENGEANCE RGB PRO DDR4 3200MHz (4 x 16GB)
Graphics Card
24GB ASUS ROG STRIX GEFORCE RTX 3090 - HDMI, DP

1st M.2 SSD Drive
Change to: 1TB SAMSUNG 980 PRO M.2, PCIe NVMe (up to 7000MB/R, 5000MB/W)

1st Storage Drive
Change to: 2TB Samsung 870 QVO 2.5" SSD, SATA 6Gb/s (up to 560MB/sR | 530MB/sW)

Power Supply
Change to: CORSAIR 1000W RMx SERIES™ MODULAR 80 PLUS® GOLD, ULTRA QUIET

Processor Cooling
Corsair H150i ELITE CAPELLIX RGB Hydro Series High Performance CPU Cooler

Extra Case Fans
5x Corsair LL120 RGB LED Fan + Controller Kit

Sound Card
ONBOARD 6 CHANNEL (5.1) HIGH DEF AUDIO (AS STANDARD)

Network Card
10/100/1000 GIGABIT LAN PORT

USB/Thunderbolt Options
MIN. 2 x USB 3.0 & 2 x USB 2.0 PORTS @ BACK PANEL + MIN. 2 FRONT PORTS

any help is appreciated.

You have 3 general sizes of case that correspond to the motherboard

The Fractal Node is a Micro ATX which wouldn’t fit the motherboard which is a full size ATX

Youd need a smaller sized mid tower ATX case just to fit the motherboard but then you also need clearance on the 3090.

You've also got the limitation that some smaller cases only allow for a 240mm AIO on the top, and if you fit a 360mm AIO at the front then you lose a couple of inches of space for the GPU.

I was just about able to fit my 4090FE in a Corsair 220T...but that was 304mm, it looks like the Asus ROG Swift 3090 is 318mm.

Which specific model of 3090 do you have? You can find this with the lookup button in GPU-Z
