Random frame drops & crashing?

Hey I bought this PC out of a friends recommendation and first I will say its been overall really good but I've been having random hiccups that im trying to figure out why they are appearing. Playing random games like Fortnite and Apex on this I will get over 600 fps but after a while or somewhat at random it will drop to 1 fps and crash but return maybe around 10-20 seconds later. Its done it for basic games too and occasionally on the browser.

Edit - Update! the gfx card just started vibrating while playing apex and the fan was struggling to keep a consistent speed

Good build, although they really spent your money on that motherboard, didn't they :ROFLMAO: 600fps, think you may have overshot the GPU a little as well o_O

Shame you didn't go for the silver warranty to save any return hassle, it sounds like you may need to return the GPU going by the noises you're mentioning.

It's worthwhile switching off the PC entirely and removing the GPU and then re-fitting to ensure that it's seated properly. During transit things can get jostled around so it may well be losing contact a little at a time and now causing issues. Hopefully this will sort it. Have a little look in at the fans as well, just to ensure nothing is interfering with them or anything.

I'm not too familiar with AMD hardware, so I don't know how common these types of issues are. However, dropping to 1 FPS and crashing would possibly indicate the problem being GPU related. I would personally try doing the following (in no particular order):

For RAM:
  • Run MemTest86 and Windows Memory Diagnostics. If both of these tests come back with no errors, the issue is unlikely to be RAM related
  • Double check that XMP (or the AMD equivalent) is enabled in the BIOS
For CPU:
Run a stress test such as Cinebench and open HWInfo64. Monitor the temperatures to ensure your CPU isn't having throttling (especially overheating) issues.

For GPU:
Run Heaven Benchmark on extreme (windowed) settings and open HWInfo64 or GPU-Z. Check to see if either of these programs triggers a limiter/thermal issues
While running this test, I would also get a phone torch and look under your GPU to ensure that all of the fans are spinning at the specified fan curves
If you haven't already, try using MSI Afterburner (without Riva Statistics) and set up a slightly more aggressive fan curve to ensure the GPU is actually cooling
If your monitor is e.g. 144hz, it may be worth capping your FPS to 144fps to reduce thermal + power usage
If you're comfortable doing so, try reseating the GPU
Last resort would be to use DDU to remove your GPU drivers in safe mode, then download either the newest AMD drivers or the last drivers you had the best performance from.

As for the GPU vibrating, I've personally never come across this problem. It does sound a little strange though, and a GPU sag bracket may improve this but it isn't guaranteed. If after doing all of these tests you're still having problems, I would then call PCSpecialist, tell them what troubleshooting steps you've gone through, then set up an RMA.
