I installed my existing RTX 3080, Win11 Pro licence, and a couple of 1Tb NVME drives (Sabrent Rocket & Samsung 980 Evo Pro). Learnt the hard way that populating the M.2 #2 and #3 slots disables the first PCIEx16 slot, which put a bit of a panic in me, thinking my 3080 had died on me 😂
It's now in slot #2 and working grand
So I got this new build out on Tuesday, and since then I've had some issues with it. First time I've had issues with a PCS build, as this is my third build from them now and the first I've ever had any issues with.
Primary issue root cause turned out to be the ram in this machine. It's only 5200MT/s DDR5 (I went lower for stability - lol), but I've had a LOT of trouble trying to get it to run at anything other than motherboard defaults of 3600, either by manually tweaking the speeds & voltages* or using the DOCP profiles.
Even at 3600, this machine absolutely FLIES. Loving the 9800x3D, as it's the first x3D chip I've ever used. I mainly play WoW, so this is a huge bump up from my previous 5800x.
I know AMD Motherboards are notorious for having issues with 4 sticks in simultaneously, and later today I'll be testing with 2 sticks out of the machine to see if that works at faster speeds, but any tips or pointers in getting all 4 sticks to run?
I'd really prefer to have the full 64Gb running at full speed. Given that it was QC'd and passed it should work...
*Manual settings tried:
Memory Frequency: 4800 (to try and get it running faster without maxing it out)
FCLK Freq: 2400
Tcl: 40
Trcd: 40
Trp: 40
Tras: 77 (these are all the stated defaults for the ram at 5200)
CPU SOC / VDDSOC Voltage: 1.1 (tried 1.2 as well)
DRAM VDD Voltage: 1.25
Tried PBO off and on.
