RAM comparison 2022

Hey trying to take advantage of the sales before they disappear.
Looking to get an extra 64GB of RAM (2x32GB) for my system but hesitant with brands when there is a £10-30 difference and lacking the knowledge.
Just wondering if those in the know could help?

Current set up is below, I've found a Kingston Fury Beast 64GB set up for about £180 or some Crucial 64GB RAM for £170 or should I not switch and stick with the Corsair brand that I have already? Help!

Processor (CPU)AMD Ryzen Threadripper 3960X 24 Core CPU (3.8GHz - 4.5GHz, 142MB CACHE)
MotherboardGIGABYTE TRX40 DESIGNARE (Wi-Fi 6, USB 3.2, PCIe 4.0, CrossFireX/SLI) - ARGB Ready
Memory (RAM)64GB Corsair VENGEANCE DDR4 3200MHz (4 x 16GB)

Mismatching RAM is a recipe for disaster mate it can cause all sorts of performance issues and even straight up not run

You really want the same make AND model when it comes to RAM making sure the speed and timings are identical

Thanks Steveyg, i had heard that somewhere but wasn't sure on the source/accuracy.

Martinr36 - I'm just future proofing while funds/sales allow to an extent.
Currently adding UE5 to my CV and bigger projects on the horizon

Unless you've got something that actually uses that amount of RAM you're wasting your money, most games you're fine with 16GB MSFS2020 may like 32GB, if you were creating a large 3D model in a program such as WebODM that contained 500+ photos then yes it might be worth it

Yeah I build data centres mate with 64GB of RAM and I rarely get near 40GB

No game that I know of can get upwards of 20GB, there's no performance benefit whatsoever from having more RAM that just wont be used

I haven't been a gamer for some time and even when I was, the games I did play weren't particularly strenuous on a system.
This is more for work/creative endeavours I undertake.
Dealing with multiple large 4k files and Creative Cloud.
I'll be world/character building in UE5 and dealing with more 8k footage in the not too distant future.
Only just getting to grips with UE5 now though so not like there's a rush.

I'm told the likes of AE, etc rely more on system memory than GPU memory but already workflow can be disrupted by frozen/slow video even with proxies on and no fx.
Is this likely to be just notorious Adobe bugs or a bottleneck I could potentially resolve?

Sorry mate I thought I was in a different thread with the RAM comment

It's hard to without monitoring what the actual system is doing when it freezes or starts to slow down, it could be the CPU thermal throttling for example or the GPU hitting it's memory limits and not the system RAM itself

Hard to tell without looking into it and no guarantee more RAM would fix the issue

I'd say the first step is to find out exactly what is causing the slow downs, I'd run hardware monitor and keep an eye on CPU temps to see if the thermal limits are being approached before it starts to slow down?
