Question about new intel graphics driver update.

Hi I just had a question about the new intel graphics driver update. I have an elimina pro laptop and there is a new integrated graphics driver update from intel, it says 'Installing this graphics driver from Intel will remove customizations from your computer manufacturer (OEM)'. This is the first time it's said this before an update so I just want to make sure that I will be ok to go ahead with this, and it wont affect any settings that my laptop came with from PC Specialist. I'm not sure if there is any special settings that might have been set up before my laptop was built so i'd like to check in case i do something irreversible! Thanks in advance.

Where are you sourcing this driver from?

Graphics drives, whether for the iGPU or for a dGPU, are often customised for battery saving, interoperability, or performance reasons on laptops and notebooks. I always recommend people to stick with the vendor supplied graphics drivers on laptops and notebooks rather than the generic drivers from Intel, Nvidia, or AMD. I've seen too many laptop/notebook BSODs caused by a generic graphics driver.....

I've seen too many laptop/notebook BSODs caused by a generic graphics driver.....

I think its the required driver for the igpu that is installed in the laptop, its just that this is the first time it's said something like that. It lists companies such as dell, asus, hp and pointing to their websites for information but i'm not sure because this is a custom pc specialist laptop.

You don't manually install drivers, they're installed through optional updates in windows update.

The only driver you manually update is the GPU driver and management driver (control center)

The rest are served by windows update and that will install the relevant ones for that chassis.

yes so I have intel arc control but it times out while checking for updates, but has once redirected me to the intel website where you can update your drivers from there. This is a screenshot from the website, thanks for your help.

Yes, you don't need to apply any of those, you just use windows update.

The only drivers you need to manually install are the GPU and management driver.

Okay thanks! i was under the impression that they needed to be updated just like my nvidia graphics
