PSU

Im currently at 63 working days for this build so still a bit of waiting but the website is advising me they will not be able to supply this PSU for my build. I look at all the other options and i'm not sure what to go for. Apart from the 1200W corsair platinum they are all gold. I don't mind paying the extra for the 1200w so do you think that's the choice to go for?

I will be swapping both m.2 drives to just 1 2TB 980 evo if thats makes any difference! hence i cant make this change unless i choose a different PSU.

Thanks,

Where is it saying they don’t have stocks? Did you go on the configurator or did you receive communications saying that?

I’d be more preoccupied with getting a H100i RGB Platinum in place of that Noctua, personally... 😬

He has a very valid point though.
I wouldnt take anything less than a H100i Plat, the noctua wont cope well with a 5900X and you'll find it throttles the performance, and given how much you are throwing at this and the high grade spec, that would be a real shame.

I would also scrap the extra fans.... If you find you need them buy some decent ones separately (ML would be advisable), and the link doesnt take us to your current build, think it goes back to the original spec.

Ok thanks guys - its more of a personal choice with the Noctua - and almost all comparisons of the 2 online suggest not much difference at all coupled with Linus vids regarding air/water comparing these exact 2 products. So...regarding the PSU issue that I have? xD

If you already had one purchased, you should have one thats assigned to you. Stock is allocated at the time of purchase unless specifically pre-ordering. Contact PCS directly to make the amendment, this seems more like a website setup issue.

Yes, apologies for diverting the thread. If you’ve got the extra pennies to go 1200w, absolutely. One of the highest rated models, virtually bulletproof and you’ll you’ll never be short on power 🙂👍
no probs - I absolutely see the pro's of the H100 and thats it can really be preferable especially with these high core CPU's. But I would much before air cooling as as the performance isn't much different at all (From benchmarks at least) ill stick t=with the unpopular Nocua ;) or maybe I just looove the colour scheme!

I’m a big fan of that cooler, but i really wouldn’t recommend it with that cpu. The last comparison of the two, i can find that Linus did, is 2013 and that is multiple generations ago for the AIO.

I wouldn’t want you to buy a cooler, that just doesn’t work well enough and throttles at high workload. But they are very quiet.

even with no overclocking you dont think the U14S will suffice? again everything i read online in regards to 5900x seems like at stock U14S is no probs. I just have a thing with having water in the system incase any leaks even though i know its highly unusual for AIO to do that right?

This is the point, unless PCS have contacted you directly to say that it’s out of stock for your order and to choose another, there’s no need to change it just because it’s gone out of stock on the configurator.

The noctua won’t be able to maintain boost clocks on the 5900x or 3900x, they won’t run as they’re designed to, you need the H100i as a minimum.

Even if an AIO does leak (which literally never happens anymore) it’s non conductive liquid so won’t do any damage other than need cleaning up.
