PSU keeps blowing up

Would these be a fairly straightforward repair? The standoffs sound like a simple fix but how would you usually diagnose a faulty motherboard or faulty wiring?
You'd have to go through the build testing each output, it's something PCS would need to do as they'd have the relevant tools.

Exact same problem has been happening to me as well, Sent it in for an RMA after the first incident and now again the loud pop from the PSU even when on standby.

Mine was on standby when it happened both times too, did they ever tell you what the issue was? I’ve just got mine back with a new PSU, hopefully for good this time.

Yep this is going to be 2nd RMA now for the exact same issue. Interesting to see we are all using Corsair PSUs

I'm wondering if it's the same person building these systems or if it is an inherent problem with a batch of PSUs. Improper use of stand-offs and cabling can cause issues if inexperienced.

Got my PC in May 2020, was very pleased. Psu popped two days ago, currently waiting on a replacement psu being sent but i am now considering having PCS look over the build in case it is something else? Electrician has been booked to take a look at my electrics just incase there is an issue there. I have used the socket for 6+ years with my old setup and no problems though.

I suppose i will find out on tuesday if anything else was damaged 😥

Similar build to the original post.

Apologies for thread resurrection, but I've got the same issue and wondered if an underlying cause had been found yet - or are we in agreement that it's a bad batch of PSU's.

My setup.

CORSAIR CARBIDE SERIES™ 200R COMPACT GAMING CASE
AMD Ryzen 5 3600X Six Core CPU (3.8GHz-4.4GHz/36MB CACHE/AM4)
ASUS® TUF X570-PLUS GAMING (USB 3.2 Gen 2, PCIe 4.0, CrossFireX) - RGB Ready!
16GB Corsair VENGEANCE DDR4 3200MHz (2 x 8GB)
4GB NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX 1650 SUPER - HDMI
4TB SEAGATE IRONWOLF PRO 3.5", 7200 RPM 128MB CACHE
500GB SAMSUNG 970 EVO PLUS M.2, PCIe NVMe (up to 3500MB/R, 3200MB/W)
24x DUAL LAYER DVD WRITER ±R/±RW/RAM
CORSAIR 650W TXm SERIES™ SEMI-MODULAR 80 PLUS® GOLD, ULTRA QUIET
CoolerMaster MasterLiquid Lite 120 High Performance Liquid Cooler

PC has been absolutely fine until now. Saturday when I was using it (just web browsing) I had an almighty bang. The unit restarted itself and all seemed well again.
Today, whilst it was in hibernate mode (power light just flashing) there was once again a big loud bang. This time though it was dead and wouldn't power on at all.
Changed the fuse in the kettle lead and it's restarted again (typing this from it).

Strange how I can have a working PC for a few months and then it suddenly starts giving PSU issues. Or is this a case that the PSU's start to fail after X hours of use. If it is a bad batch, then I'd like a replacement supplied.

If the fuse blew in the plug then it’s unlikely to be PSU related.

Are you using a surge protector?

I have also had exactly the same issue with a Scan pre-build that came with a Corsair Tx550. Last night the computer was in standby, loud pop accompanied by a bright white flash and all the sockets for my living room (where my pc is) were tripped at the breaker.

Computer was connected to a surge protector which was not tripped by the blow-out.

I definitely have a feeling there is something wrong with the TxMs.

As you say, Corsair are very well known for their PSUs being untouchable. I've long recommended Corsair. It really needs addressed for their brand image IMO.

Be interested to know how wide the issue is.

Regarding the PSU of mine that went, I do wonder if I loaded it too much previously when gaming....my 2060 Super, for a few weeks, was on about 96% load for quite a few hours a day

Na, that should never happen.... no matter how far you push it within its upper limit. They are designed to have a fair amount of headroom in all honesty. It's definitely a fault. I've seen videos of the Corsair units being tested to destruction and they can take a pounding normally.
