I believe it only affects pcie 5.0? I have a 1080 (stop laughing) so use Pcie 3.0. shouldn't affect me?

I'm eagerly awaiting a new PC from PCS, helped with the spec from the lovely people on this here forum. I got a 5080 coming with it... I'm getting worried, I take it they'll stress test it with the latest drivers etc... also the power connectors, I hear there is an issue with them potentially, but could just be the 5090's. I take it the power connectors used by PCS are like recommended ones, or ones made by 'certified' manufacturers?

I was going to make a new thread but saw this, hope is ok I tag in.

There is only one driver at the moment, so PCS will test with that but there are known issues, it may work fine until you install stuff, there’s nothing PCS can do about that, it’s up to nvidia to release an update.

But PCS will stress test the system fully before shipping it. If you ordered with windows it will come fully set up.

That’s only the 5090s as far as we know, similar thing happened on 4090s

Cables come with the PSU and are certified, assuming you’ve ordered an ATX 3 PSU, if you’ve ordered an ATX 2 PSU it will likely use the adapters that come with the GPU

Ok sweet, and I guess worst comes to worst - have warranty etc (y)
Yes, you'll have PCS warranty, whatever level you order, and then manufacturers warranty on top of that.

I think generally GPU manufacturer warranties tend to be minimum of 3 years.

Got my new PC Specialist PC yesterday.
Got it set up and as routine updated everything.
Wish I'd known about this issue before I'd done that.
Would it not be a good idea to send a warning to anyone buying a machine with an nVidia card that updating the drivers might cause serious issues ?
It seems that all sorts of systems are affected by the driver issues : I have a Nitro5 laptop that (briefly) blinded me in one eye when it emitted a bright white flash (it was sat beside me.). And my old Win10 machine died in the middle of playing Civ5 - no recovery was possible.
As it is the new machine crashed after displaying artefacts onscreen when playing Civ5. Civ 5 isn't the most demanding of games.
All had the latest nVidia drivers

Its a bit later in the day, this was referencing the release drivers, not the current drivers.

If you’re having an issue probably worth raising a thread in the technical support section
