Problem with new pc

Just got a new pc from here (specs in image attached), and it has been freezing up while im playing games (video on google drive link below), I know it isn't built for gaming but I still feel like it should be able to run them quite easily with how good it is. I've updated the drivers and tired closing all background apps but it still seems to be freezing up. Don't think this should be happening with a pc of this caliber, so if anyone knows any fixes please let me know.

Video of it freezing: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1FyT00UeDZ7cpw4VCMGqtc8fR3ZbJzke8/view?usp=sharing

Before we get into it, can you delete your windows key from your screenshot please? Just to be safe.

EDIT

Also, I need to request access to view the video, just FYI

You really should have got some advice before buying because those Intel chips are completely defective and not fit for purpose.

Out of interest:

- Is it happening just in Fortnite or in other games as well?
- Is it always like that video shows? More random spikes of freezing/lag rather than the game crashing or permanently freezing?

The first thing I would do, regardless, is delete Norton 360 anti-virus. The built in Windows Security is more than god enough and Norton is known to cause issues.

Aww man, that sucks :/ at least i know to check in the future now.

It does happen on other games, i make roblox content on youtube and it freezes while im recording and premire pro seems to be running slowly ontop of that.

Yeah it is how the video shows, just random freeze spikes, my game never seems to crash it just freezes up.

Also ty for the advice, i shall uninstall Norton, ive heard a lot of bad things about it LOL

How recently was it purchased?

If it was recent enough, you could cancel & return and go for a much more stable AMD system (although the new 9000 series CPUs come out later this week).

If you do go down this route, then please post your new config before you pull the trigger, as we'd probably recommend some other changes too (e.g. better/higher PSU, different SSD set-up for reliability/redundancy, lower level motherboard unless you're into overclocking).

Ohh yeah i got it like a week ago, i shall return it!
Then once you've got your cash back, have a good read of this and answer the questions it raises and get something specced

Just as some general advice on Fortnite as well, always set your FPS to your monitor's refresh rate rather than leaving it on Unlimited.

Also play around with DX11 and DX12. One will be far more stable than the other and that video you posted looks like mine did when I was on the wrong one.

100% this is a must on any game, otherwise you get tearing and stuttering. That’s why we all pay the extra for VRR monitors with gsync and freesync
