Prepping for 3080 upgrade

Hi guys,

Im looking into getting a 3080 when the stock starts to come in, but having a look around on the internet has so much infomation around having better CPU's or more RAM to get the best out of the graphics card. Its difficult for me to realy understand what I should be doing with the other hardware in my box in preperation. I can just start uplifing everything but I realy dont have the know-how to know what the bottleknecks are to make sure I'm doing it right.
I know for sure I'll need to get a PSU upgrade to 750W to meet the recomendations, but is there anything else lacking?

Well, it might not be obvious, but I have very little idea what im doing :). Which is why I'm asking vague questions looking for advice. Is there anything in particular you would recommend?

Ive had a bit of a poke about on the web and it seems like everyone has a different idea on whats best! The LG 27GL850 seems to come up often and their ultrawide LG 34GN850-B, but that might be more expensive than Im willing to go.

Probably no more than the £800 mark on price. As for size limit, I dont think I realy have one, I can rearrange my space to make it work

I've been using the below for a few months now and i still love it. My setup uses a GTX1080 and my main game is wow. It does good 90% of the time but occasionally struggles to maintain over 100fps at times.

I am looking to upgrade to the 6800, 6800XT or RTX3070 eventually which will suit this for a few years.
So you won't have any need for a 3080, based on the information you've given above.
Which means you can use your money abit more wisely.

AMD are so far looking to give better power to wattage. For the RTX you really want an absolute PSU minimum of 650w (which you have) for the 3070 ideally a 750w and increasing for each higher card While a 650w psu should preform with none to little limitations for all the AMD cards, with the information we have at this time.

To be able to advise property, is the £800 you mention above just for a monitor or is that for the total budget?
What is the total budget you are looking to spend to upgrade your build to optimum for your uses?
Also what are the uses?

Thanks for your help with this guys, much appreciated.

The £800 would be my max for the monitor.
Max budget isn't something id thought of. I'll be spreading out my upgrade purchases over a few paydays most likely as i wasn't expecting to get my hands on a 3080 for a while until the stock issues sorted themselves out and id grab the bits i needed on the run up to that point. However, I can't be going crazy with spending or the missus won't be best pleased.:)
Uses are mainly gaming, but I'm not streaming or doing any competitive shooters type stuff, so I dont need millisecond precision
