Please help....My Laptop is dying

OK. Makes sense. Before posting here, I'd started to isolate the problem to the Power Brick.....Just weird that as soon as it's plugged in everything crashes. It does get very hot to the touch. I see that PC specialist quotes £77 when configuring, but cheapest I can find online is around £125. Want to make sure that it's the culprit! I'll run it again whilst plugged in....Have to try and take a screen shot just before it crashes again. By the way...Thank you so much for your time and effort. A true Good Samaritan you are sir.

Hmmm... I'm a bit out of my depth on this one.

I think there's a couple of possiblities:

1/. The PSU brick is flaking out when full power load is being requested.

2/. There is a hardware issue with the GPU that's only triggered under full load.

Are you able to send to PCS? They'll be able to pin point it better. I suspect it may be the GPU.

Temps are definitely ok as far as I can tell, can't see anything wrong with them.

The standard warranty is in place for 3 years so you're covered for labour at the very least, but hopefully parts as well.

I would arrange for an RMA with PCS and then if they need to replace the PSU, they'll more than likely still have stocks of the original (which I'd always recommend over a 3rd party generic brick).

Thanks for your help mate. I've spent the last 3 days literally scouring every part of the web for solutions, and tried all the recommended fixes, but alas....It seems that a call to PCS is the way. Gonna be tough without a my laptop for a week in these current conditions, but better than tearing my hair out. You take care my friend, and thank you again for your time. You've done all the right things, well done. I'd raise it with PCS and give them a link to this post to show them the steps we've taken and the readings.

If you're feeling flush, you could just buy a replacement Power Brick from PCS (go to the upgrades section when logged into your main account on the main PCS site), but I hold reservation that that will cure it, and think an RMA may actually be necessary anyway.

Hi m8 I'm having exactly the same problem as you only my screen goes black or sometimes just freezes and I have to unplug and remove the battery to restart. My temps all seem OK. Crash only happens when plugged in at around 70c. I though it may be the power brick or motherboard connection. Same cpu only I'm runng the 1080. Did you find a solution??

It's not impossible that there's a problem with the charging circuitry on the motherboard that's causing the crash when the charger is plugged in. Before splashing any cash on a new charger I would RMA the whole thing to PCS and get them to sort it out.

BTW. I agree that you've done all the right things and done all you can.

I have started my own thread, you commented on it. This post is nearly 2 months old I'm just asking the OP if he fixed his issue that's all. As you said it could be the power brick which I also thought on mine. Wanted to see if he'd tested a new one.
