I just got my new PC today but it wont start up properly.

Can anyone help with this? Is there something I've done wrong when connecting up the cables?

The video is unavailable unfortunately.

I would advise calling our technical support line at 0333 011 7000. I would advise having the order number ready when you do.

Sorry I've made that video available now. I'm in Ireland so I thought posting in the forums might be easier.

About the only thing you could do yourself is to open the case and check that all cards are properly seated and that all connectors are properly connected.

OK I'll do that. I've sent a tech support request so I'll see what PCS come back with. Thanks for your help.

I suppose there is no possibility of there being a problem with your mains power supply?

It will have been working before it left PCS, so either it's been damaged in transit (and that does happen sometimes, cards coming loose is also not uncommon) or there is some issue with the power at your home.

Tech Support got back to me and suggested what you did as well as removing the memory and putting it back in. I did all of that and it made no difference. I don't think that it's an issue with my power as the old PC worked just fine and I've plugged the new one into a few different sockets to no effect. I'll contact tech support again and let them know that I haven't been able to resolve the issue.

Just by way of an update the problem turned out to be a fault with the motherboard, which PCS replaced under warranty. They have now stress tested & QC'd the PC and are sending it back out to me. Hopefully it will be working fine this time.

I thought I'd post this to the forums in case anyone else has the same problem.

This is totally INSANE ! Arent they supposed to TEST every component before shipping ? How can it be that a fault on the motherboard has not been detected ? WE PAY FOR BEING SURE EVERYTHING IS TESTED !!!!

It's possible they didn't QC it right (mistakes shouldn't happen but nobody's immune to them), or that they did everything right but something happened in transit.

Keep us posted with how things go when the PC gets back to you, dani72 :)

We do put the systems we send out through extensive stresstesting and QC and we will never send a system out that isn't in a 100% working order. However unfortunate, technology can break at any given time, and in this case it happened upon arrival. I hope everything is up and running as it should have been when you received the system. I would again like to offer my apologies from PCSpecialist.

Actually, I can tell you from personal experience that that isn't always true. My first Defiance II had to be swapped within a few days of arrival and it had even shipped with failure logs still left on.

Come on fella. You need to calm down. As frustrating as human error - and in these kind of cases it could be just that or, as Ubuysa says, something took a knock in transit - or even the fact that failures can simply just happen. You've made two posts and they're both inflammatory and frankly bring nothing to the conversation: doubly so since you're commenting on issues you yourself haven't had!

PCS ship thousands of units a week (someone posted a vid on here a bit back with the figures) and sometimes some of them will fail for whatever reason.

What is more important, to me and I think to many, is what a company does when things do go wrong. For me, they arranged an RMA to replace it and it was collected and turned around in about 4 or 5 working days from memory. Ideal? No. Frustrating? Sure. A good result at the end of the day? Absolutely and I've no problem recommending PCS. In fact one close friend has a DIII on my recommendation and loves it.

Unfortunately, as mentioned there is the factor of human error. We do ofcourse do our utmost best to minimize the amount of times this occurs. As you also mentioned, when one does slip through the net we do our best to have it rectified with as minimal downtime as possible.

I got my new PC back yesterday and so far it is working like a dream. The first thing I noticed is how blazingly fast it is to load up (I'm sure the Samsung M.2 drive has a lot to do with that). I will post some pictures and more info on the 'Show off your new PC/Laptop!' section later.

The motherboard error was baffling what with all the testing & QC but to be fair to PCS mistakes happen and they did rectify it once notified. I would have no problem recommending them to other people!

Just chiming in about the testing, I'm another customer who doubts my PC was tested. For a start it didn't have Windows installed, the only partition on it was a 128MB Windows MSR so I guess testing was impossible. PC failed after 2 days and was RMA'd. Apparently the issue was out of date BIOS.
