PC Upgrade - Advice Required

Hi All,

I am looking to upgrade my current system with a better graphics card. I built the below system through PC Specialist in 2021 but re-used my Nvidia GTX 1070 from my previous built just because of the prices at the time. I am looking at either a RTX 3070 Ti or RTX 3070 Ti. It will be the Tuf Gaming model as I like the look of the unit.

At the same time as doing this I am wanting to add an additional 1TB M.2 SSD onto the motherboard, however doing research I believe its second slot is only capable of PCIe .3, am I correct? Basically wanting to know if there is anything other I should look to update or compatibility issues to look out for?

My Current Build:

That motherboard only supports gen 4 speeds in 1 slot, so it would probably be wise sticking with a gen 3 drive to add on.

If you’ve waited this long it might be worth waiting for the Nvidia 4000 series or AMD 7000 series of GPUs. Once they come out prices of previous gen cards should (hopefully) dip, but you’ll also get a big performance bump, which you’ll benefit from to run a 4k144hz display. You might be looking at upgrading your PSU as well though, as especially with Nvidia we are looking at very power hungry GPUs coming out.

Yeah thought so, what would your recommendation be for the best M.2 SSD?

I’ll be waiting until the prices drop don’t worry. I was told that the power supply wouldn’t be much of an issue, but that was for the 3070 Ti, Would there be much difference with the 3089 Ti.

I would say a 4070 would be a better investment long term, likely around the same money as a 3080 will be nearer the time as it's a whole tier down, should be around the £500 mark for a founders edition and is supposed to be on par with the 3090 in performance.

Thank you for the feedback, is there any idea when they will be released?
