PC Shut down issue

Hi

I haven't had my newly built PC for long and a couple of times now, when I have clicked to Shut down the PC, it goes through the shutdown process (displays shutting down windows screen), then goes black and then a blue screen appears for a second or so and then the PC boots up again rather than shutting down, telling me when it boots back up that "windows has recovered from an unexpected shutdown", not sure how its unexpected when I asked it to shutdown. Here is a copy of the error report that comes with it:

Anyone know what this problem is and how to fix it?

If you upload the minidump file, we can have a look. Windows will sometimes hang when shutting down as a driver or something won't close properly. There's no personal info in the minidump file, it's just related to the driver causing the issue.

Well that's a first for me (that BCCode I mean) I've not see one of those before. 0x7F is what's known as a kenerl trap, it's designed to catch problems (like divide by zero errors etc.) in the kernel code. The first parameter (0x0D) indicates that an application performed an unspecified violation. So it looks like it's not Windows but some application that is still running when you shut down.

So I'd suggest that you manually end all third-party applications before you shutdown. You can do that via the Task Manager. End everything that's not Windows and then shutdown and see what happens. Hopefully you'll have ended the application that causes the problem and it should shutdown properly. If so then you need to experiment to find out which one. So next time you shutdown end only half of the processes you ended last time and shut down, if it fails it's in the list you didn't end, if it doesn't fail it's in the list you did. So again end half those in the failing list and shutdown again. Keep halving the processes in the failing list until you find it. (BTW. This is a common search technique, it's known as a binary search).

I'm guessing it's the antivirus and if so, at a totally random pick of the hat, do you have avast installed?

No my antivirus is ESET NOD32. Where do I get the minidump file from?
I'll try what ubuysa suggested and manually end programs see if that helps too.

I downloaded a program to view the minidump file, here is screenshot of it:

problems all sorted now, turned out to be something called LAN Optimizer which was effecting it, uninstalled program and everything fine now.

Well done and +rep for sticking with it and doing some good and logical fault-finding. :)

Erm well I thought I had fixed it, but the program is still there, done it to me twice now since I posted thinking I had fixed it. Can anyone assist at all seeing my specs and the log files from BlueScreenView?
