PC required

Hi

I have a budget of £500 - £600 punds for a new pc.

I will need it to play games such as FM14, Battlefield 4 to a reasonable standard and last a few years before parts need upgrading.

I will also need to use it for home office use, Word etc.

I have no idea what parts I would need, so any help would be most grateful.

Thanks in advance.

Thank you.

As a starting point is that a good set up? What sort of level would BF4 run etc?

Also would it make a difference choosing windows 8?

No difference between windows 7/8. I don't know the performance for bf4 since it has not been released yet but ultra settings for bf3.

Sorry one last question.

Would there be much difference having more RAM? 8 instead of 4?

How long would it be before I would need to think about upgarding things like the graphics card etc.

Those are things difficult to answer. Your budget is quite limited and to afford the HD 7850 I need to choose only 4 RAM which should be fine for now. How long before you need to upgrade the gpu? It depends on your expectations, types of games,....

Not for a few years I would of thought. Most iof my gaming will be done on a console

It is mainly the GF that will be using it for work. I just want to be able to play BF4 and FM14 at a decentish spec when she is not using it. Will it run office etc well?

I looked at some off the shelf Desktops from PC world etc but thought I would get more for my money from a custom built one.

I take it this spec is much better than the one below I was looking at?

Sorry posted a link to PC world. Just realised this is not allowed.

The pc will be mainly used by my GF for office etc. Will this run well on the above spec?

Games wise for me I want to be able to play BF4 and FM14 on it when she is not using it. I do most of my gaming on a console.

I have looked at ones off the shelf but thought I would get betetr value for money from a custom built one. Would that be the case?

You will definitely get better value for money at PCS compare to PCworld or Currys, check the gpu on the off the shelf system and check benchmarks. For your budget I don't think it will outperform the HD 7850.

That's what I thought.

So the above spec should last me a few years for what I will be using it for?

THe GF can do work on it etc and I cna play BF and FM quite happily?

Again how long it will last for gaming depends on the games and what settings you expect (ultra, high , medium). The HD 7850 will allow you to play battlefield 3 on ultra and I assum bf4 in at least medium. For your girlfriend use the spec is perfectly fine. FM should run fine as well.

Very few games require more than 4GB RAM,I would stick with that for now if you want to keep the price down, and it's easily upgraded in future if need be.

Thanks

And it will work well with the graphics card?
Yes it will, the RAM you can use depends more on the motherboard, which I believe can take up to 32GB RAM,Windows 7 home premium has a limit of 16GB RAM,you won't have any problems.

Sorry for all the noobish questions.

Will it be a noisy system?
That's a hard one to answer really, noise is pretty much a subjective thing,I never really notice the noise from my computer, while others might.
