PC randomly decides if it wants to turn on or not?

I have had the PC for about a year now, even from the get go after I turn off the PC when I next come to turn it on I am met with no response from the power button (Motherboard lighting is on still showing power). This only happens on occasion and usually after clicking the power button a few more times it starts.
Yesterday I installed 2 more slots of ram (all working perfectly) and turned my pc off for the night, when I came to turn it on today it simply wouldn't.(again motherboard lighting was still on)
I have fixed this by turning it off at the back, unplugging the power cable and then plugging it back in and waiting a moment.
I am wondering what could be the issue as it didn't seem much of an issue before as I just had to click the power a few times but if it's going to be getting worse then I'd rather fix it. I am also curious if adding the new RAM has somehow effected this or just coincidence that its gotten worse the day after installation.

Is the machine left to sleep/hibernate and you're waking it from that mode, or are you physically switching it off every night and doing a full boot each morning?

I just use the shutdown option but the mobo light is always on, it seems to happen more if I shutdown and switch the power off fully at the back.

The motherboard lighting will stay on until there's no power to the motherboard (so either PSU or wall socket switched off).

You can of course usually disable this 'standby' lighting in the BIOS, but that's not likely to have anything to do with your issue.

I normally turn mine off at the wall after shutting it down, as it's not used every day, so you could try that for a few days to see if it resolves the issue. Otherwise it could be a faulty power button or the connection to the MB pins.
