Steam is exactly 20 years old today, so there's a showcase highlighting some of the best selling games from each of the last 20 years, some of which are discounted. I've been using Steam a little over 17 years now.

i have a question, whats your fav steam moment of the past 17 yrs, i.e. best experience, best game you played or something like a moment that is remembered?

I remember first getting Steam many many many years ago with the green tint UI and downloading "The Specialists" mod which was basically The Matrix in Source Engine. That was phenomenal and played so so so many hours in that mod, like a core memory for me playing that and getting real good with the Katana and melee attached when everyone else was using guns, stupid, amazing fun

I think my first Steam game was tge original F.E.A.R. game which will always be a favorite. I had 2 cards in SLI (RIP), but they were only mid tier cards. That game blew me away, oh and of course tge orange box which was most of the valve games which they were giving away at the time to entice people to the platform. So included half life series and portal.

I refused to join Steam for a while after it launched due to concerns about digital games, but Valve released "The Half Life Anthology" which was a Steam-only version of Half Life and the 3 expansions/DLC which tempted me in. It was basically the forerunner to the Orange Box.

I was living with an old friend who introduced me to gaming really. When steam came around he was adamant that it would be a bad idea and that physical or DRM free was the only way to go.

All his digital copies are on GOG and he downloads the installer for EACH game in his library and stores them locally. Bear in mind this guy has been a seasoned gamer for probably 30 years now.

But whenever possible, he'll get rhe collectors physical merch if it's a big title, so he's got the fallout PipBoy, loads of bits from WoW (which was his favorite). Incredible collection.

Apparently there may be a steam deck 2 in the works which may tie in with the price cuts

Rumours are they're working on a new index headset too

Resident Evil 4 Remake is discounted on Humble Bundle:

and Steam:

It's showing as a bigger discount on Humble for me which might be because I'm on the mailing list. Still a decent discount on Steam though!
