I got Tomb Raider in a good deal a few weeks ago but only just started playing it.

I need to clear something up... am I just rubbish at these type of games, or are those quick time fight scenes completely awful? There doesn't seem to be any logic except button mashing until one of your 'F's manages to actually be registered and then you don't die?? Half the time I'm pressing F literally 20 times in quick succession and it isn't registering it. Other than that the game's good fun. I just don't understand how that facet of the game got past QC though. It seems almost as ridiculous as the boss battles in Deus Ex HR.

The quick time fight scenes are appearing a LOT in the latest games, and i've seen it on a few of the XBONE game demo's as well. I actually don't mind them too much, breaks up the norm BUT Tomb raider uses them a lot, which is repetitive and irritating

Yea probably the main frustration I've noticed in my first night of playing TR. It could be a really solid game without them but I suppose it helps to incorporate some stunning cut-scene graphics with at least a bit of user-inputted gameplay rather than just feeling like you're watching a film.

I think my main gripe is the E and F look far too similar when the prompts come up...

Yeah I found that quite annoying to TR. But the game looks too good for me to care! :)

I did find it massively annoying in Max Payne 3 though. At one point when you get attacked by a guy with a machete, I had to switch to a controller just to get past it.

It would be better, if you could either press E to do one type of attack, or F to do a differing attack. Both attacks leading in different endings.

The most annoying thing for me in Tomb Raider was using the quicktime presses of F after a dodge in regular fights to do a finishing move. The amount of times I'd mess up the timing got mind numbing. There I am fighting a guy with a samurai sword, he swings, I dodge, I press F too quickly, he swings, I dodge, I press F too late,he swings, I dodge, I press F too quickly... etc etc etc, he swings, I dodge, I get bored and shoot him in the face.

Didn't stop me thinking it was a great game though. It got the bow and arrow feel perfectly right I felt.. unlike Far Cry 3 where the bow and arrow felt like a child's catapult!
