Hi, my son is very good at Fortnite and wants a PC to take him to the next level.
I've built one for him (not sure how i attach the spec) but essentially I'm looking for a greater FPS than 120.
Any tips on what to look out for to achieve this?
Thanks
What resolution though? He has a 120hz monitor but we will be buying a 2nd monitor once we know what the pc can achieve.
In that case the make and model as in the guide please, and still need the specs as in the guideDon't know about resolution.
I'm not an expert so someone can correct me if I am wrong. You don't need the Anti-Virus, windows defender and Malwarebytes are sufficient enough. I don't think you would need to spend extra on that the thermal paste. Will probably need a more powerful psu 750w+. I can't comment on the rest so hopefully someone else can help thereThink I worked it out:

Thank you. That's really helpful. I'm guessing, you wouldn't know the refresh rate until you boot the game up and change the settings.
Well that depends on resolution. 1440p 120fps is way better than 1080p 120fps, which is what you'll be talking about from the Xbox, I imagine. You get an extra 78% more pixels, so it looks way better. Playing in 1080p with the 7700 XT you can expect well over 200fps (if your monitor can display it), but that would be stupid: you'll get a better experience from 1440p.He gets 120fps from his xbox. So I'm assuming he'll get more than 100fps at low settings. For £1500 I want a significant improvement on 120fps, otherwise he might as well stick with his xbox.
Consoles and PCs cannot be compared because they are two fully different systems. He gets 120fps from his xbox. So I'm assuming he'll get more than 100fps at low settings. For £1500 I want a significant improvement on 120fps, otherwise he might as well stick with his xbox.
I'll likely be buying a new monitor at this point. So, what do you recommend?Well that depends on resolution. 1440p 120fps is way better than 1080p 120fps, which is what you'll be talking about from the Xbox, I imagine. Not wishing to harp on a point, but this is why we need to know what monitor you'll be using.
What's the budget? As I said above, I'd probably recommend 1440p, which will be the £250-400 range.I'll likely be buying a new monitor at this point. So, what do you recommend?
