RAM is supplied in pairs, that confirms that that pair are cut from the same silicon wafer so electrical properties are as closely the same as possible which will limit any incompatibility.

Dual Channel RAM (DDR) is always applied in 2s, never singles.

I help out with BSODs on several other forums. You would be amazed at the number of times that mismatched RAM causes problems. ALWAYS buy RAM in packs.
