Ordered this any problems with the spec?

ordered this pc a week or so ago pretty much exclusively for gaming, I guess my main concern if the motherboard will have adequate support for the GPU?

That motherboards fine for 5800x and the selected gpu most would recommend rog strix x570 but the tuf is completely fine would recommend upgrading to silver warrenty for £5 and removing bullguard anti virus its known to cause issues windows defender is good.
storage most pepole have a fast 500gb m.2 for windows to go on and a 2nd m.2 usally 1tb as a games drive

You also dont need the thermal paste corsair series aio cpu coolers come with high quality pre applied paste so they have to remove it to then apply the paste you have selected which is pritty much the same quality paste and pointless so no need to pay extra for it :)

Any motherboard can support any GPU, it's more the processor that's being used that's the factor, and the feature set you want.

The Asus Tuf's only real black mark is that it only has 2 USB headers, so if you're factoring in an AIO cooler, and wifi/bluetooth card, you're already out of ports, so I would always suggest the Strix X570 in that instance.

But the Tuf is a very capable board otherwise, and will handle that build fine.

But overall, we can't really comment without knowing what it's going to be used for and what monitor you're pairing it with (make and model)?

hi thanks for the reply this board has built in Wifi will that not free up a port?

it will be mainly pretty much exclusively used for gaming Rust, Battlefield 2042 and halo infinite

the monitor I will be pairing it with would be 144hz & 1ms response time model number below.

The build is suited to 1440p, but that's a 1080p monitor so it will bottleneck performance.

Do you already have the monitor? I'd strongly recommend getting a different one if you haven't.

For the 3060TI you'd be looking at 1440p for which monitors aren't quite that cheap yet. You have a couple of good options closer to the £300 mark

The AOC CQ27G2U - Monitor I own and am a massive fan, also have it paired with a 3060TI

The ASUS TUF VG27AQ1A - Fantastic value IPS monitor

The cheapest you can go is about £250

This LG is seriously good value (currently £100 off) but is a VA panel which is between the lower TN and higher IPS


But the above options from @JUNI0R are full IPS monitors which are better.

I wish the AOC was IPS! would be a steal, sadly it's just VA. The ASUS is definitely IPS though

If you can't stretch up toward £300 or so for an IPS 27in 1440p monitor, you can look at this VA 1440p one on sale at Dell for £229

Reviews seems positive (https://www.rtings.com/monitor/reviews/dell/s2722dgm, https://www.monitornerds.com/dell-s2722dgm-review/). For £229, it seems to offer a 165Hz, 1500R curve, almost 400nits brightness in SDR and an excellent SDR colour gamut. Response times and input lag seem decent. It doesn't do HDR but nothing really does in that price range.

I don't really think I've seen a decent VA 1440p panel for much lower than this price.

That's a great value choice there.
I remember the good ol' Samsung G5 going down to £240 during Prime Day, but haven't seen anything of note dipping below that mark.

Sorry about the delay in my reply to this I have been doing a lot of research on monitors, but their is one thing I can’t quite find

the main game I play is rust and first person shooters such as battlefield and halo.

My question would be is a lower frame rate @ 1440p going to be better or would I be better off with a 1080p but a much higher frame rate?


From trawling through endless posts I have found that I would be getting around 70-80fps @ 1440p

But 100+ FPS @ 1080p

Having gone from 1080p 60hz to 1440p 144hz, I cannot recommend the jump enough. I literally didn't know gaming could be so good. I wouldn't recommend 60hz at all for gaming, plus 1440p 60hz is pretty rare unless you go with a basic office monitor. And if you've got the budget for 1440p it seems nonsensical to go for 1080p.

Looking at your build there's defineitely areas where we could save cash that'd get you that last chunk towards 1440p 144hz. If you let us know how much you'd like to spend in total for both the PC and monitor, we'd be happy to work out the split for you so you get an awesome gaming PC and a great 1440p monitor to go with it?

Thanks, I think I’m fine with my build,

The dell monitor suggested above I have managed to bring down a little but im not to fussed on that price range,

I am not looking at 60hz monitors only 144 and higher,

I was just wondering if 1080p 165hz or 1440p 165hz would be better

Looking at endless reviews from multiple different scources I should be getting ~80fps out of 1440p

And ~100fps from 1080p with the 3060ti

My question is would I still have a good experience with 80 FPS @ 1440p or would I be better off at the top end of 1080p with 165hz IPS display pushing over 100 frames in all scenarios?

even lowering the cpu, memory, power supply and motherboard would only really allow me to upgrade to a 3070 gpu

@jonnie51. Why do you think you'd be getting only 70-80 fps at 1440p? Just checking up on Rust (not a game I play) and a 3060 Ti delivers about 100-110 fps at ultra with a 5800X and 3060 Ti. You can dial down settings to achieve the fps you want. You should never really play at ultra but at high settings. Many new games will have DLSS support.

I just think to buy a 5800X and 3060 Ti (something that performs like a 2080 Super) and still play a 1080p is a waste of the spec.

You seem to be arguing that even a 3070 won't be enough but a 3070 is high-end 1440p or ultra-wide 1440p GPU.

Sorry I have been endlessly looking at specs and monitors, the average I was finding was around 80 FPS maybe I am getting confused and don’t mean to come across argumentative or rude.

If I would be getting 100 FPS with the combination I am more than happy with that pairing it with the Dell monitor you have suggested as it will be a damn site better than the MSI GE62 laptop I have been using for the last 6 years, I think I have gotten a little held up on the VA vs IPS when in reality I don’t think it will make a huge difference.

I know that the 3070 is high end but to achieve my budget with that card would mean lowering a lot if not all of the other components including the CPU

I've a 3060Ti running at 1440p mate, I've rarely been under 100+ FPS on any game on max settings. Mix of High/Highest settings generally 144FPS + in everything so far
