Something I’m thinking about getting and I play rust, warzone and red dead 2 to name a few
Ok, so what's your current monitor make and model?

Why are you so set on 240Hz, do you have any understanding of what that means? #

1080p is a dead resolution. The ONLY area it makes any sense is for competitive gameplay.

Competitive gameplay only makes sense for about 1% of humans who have eyesight and reactions quick enough to appreciate it. The every day person can't make out any difference over about 120Hz. It's NOT the case that getting 240Hz will make you a better player, that's completely untrue and spread by people on YouTube who quite frankly haven't got a clue about hardware and are paid promoters. They have an agenda to meet for their sponsors.

1080p these days is an incredibly poor experience which is backed up by the fact there is only 1 GPU being made that still supports it, and I fully expect within the next generation it will be phased out.

The step up from 1080p to 1440p is far more beneficial than the step up from 144Hz to 240Hz at 1080p.

For that budget you can put an incredible machine together, with a GPU thats perfect for your current monitor, and still come in under budget.
The idea would then be (maybe in a year) upgrading the GPU and monitor, perhaps looking at what would be a RTX 4070 (or whatever they call the next series) and a 1440p ultrawide or something.

Trust these guys i spent weeks pouring over reviews and videos trying to put a build together when i thought i had it i posted here with my budget and other info an what i had came up with build wise. A few hours with these guys an they managed to smooth out the build making cuts in places i had gone OTT that allowed me to buff other areas i had made sacrifices still not 100% on which case but the core of the machine is nailed down. One of the best things is they don't all agree on everything so well they're discussing their view points you can get some great advice an that allows you a much more balanced insight.

a 3070 is the most robust card imo. You can play competitive games at high fps @ 1440p, but it is also powerful enough for 4k 60fps, in single player games on your 4K tv.

I feel that @sibun1 's decision to go for an all out build minus the GPU then wait until a GPU and monitor upgrade can be done at the same time is a very good option and a lot of times I spec builds for this thread, I get to a simlar outcome.

Another option for OP, providing it's something they're happy to do is to spend a lot less than the original 2.2K budget on the PC alone but get a PC + Monitor for that price instead. I feel this would be a solid 1440p 144hz build and should leave £300 for a Samsung G5 or AOC CQ27G2U/BK

Thoughts?
