Opinions on my new order

Hi everyone, hope you're all doing well.

Currently 6 working days into my order and as I'm often checking the forums to see the waiting times regarding rtx 3070s (and how long other peoples order have taken), I thought it would be beneficial to upload my spec and get opinions on it. Its a massive upgrade to my current pc (around 8 years old and has a gtx 660). I plan to use this new build primarily to stream, edit and game- and hopefully in the future be able to use VR with it. My current monitor is 60Hz 1080p, but I am looking to buy a 144Hz 1440p monitor- so if anyone has any recommendations regarding that as well please let me know (I'm all for value for money but after the amount I've spend on this I'd prefer it to be the lower boundary of 144HZ 1440p monitors). Any feedback and advice massively appreciated, also I'm aware of the low storage but it doesn't bother me too much+ I have a 500gb SSD already I will be adding myself. Many thanks, Ed :)

Forgot to add- can be flexible by about £200 but I'm not overly looking to spend more unless the upgrade is going to provide noticeable benefits, and I would prefer to downgrade in one area to upgrade in another considering I also want to purchase a monitor. Thanks

Adding a 1tb PCS m.2 in for your games is good if you can afford it. It also means that if you have to do a clean install of Windows you won't have to reinstall all your games.
PSU I would recommend upgrading to the 850W RMx. It's a fully modular supply that runs near silent on low loads. Also gives you room for upgrades down the line. The 750W model should suffice, but for £3 extra the 850W is a great pick.
You can drop the thermal paste as the Noctua comes with premium paste pre applied.
You can drop Bullguard- it's been known to cause slowdown on systems, and Windows Defender is solid.
Silver Warranty for a fiver is well worth it.

Couple extra suggestions:
  • I can't see your case in the configurator, but if you've picked a good case for airflow then you don't need the additional case fans. Plus I understand that the PCS basic case fans you've added are a bit on the loud side - so if sound is an issue might be worth thinking about.
  • You potentially don't need the additional CPU cooler at all if you're not going to be stressing the CPU hard - the 5600X stock cooler is adequate for most uses. The Noctua cooler is great, and if you can afford it, keep it - but if price is an issue it might be overkill.
  • As another option - you could drop the case fans and swap the Noctua for one of the Corsair AiOs - I think the H100x is supposed to be good, but I'm not super up-to-speed with AiO coolers.

Absolutely, a lovely case that is available right now is the Corsair 465x, you can definitely follow Tom's advice and upgrade to that, and then comfortably remove the extra case fans.
The Noctua is in a pretty good place for quiet cooling, as mentioned the 5600x won't require a huge amount of cooling so it should be more than fine. If you wanted to go for an AIO instead I would recommend the H100i Platinum for quiet and efficient cooling, although obviously it is more expensive, and pretty overkill for your build.

Hi guys, thanks to both to you for you great feedback.

Following this I've: changed to a 850W RMx, removed the thermal paste, along with BullGuard and also the extra case fans. I changed the case to the Corsair 465x. I've opted to stick to my Noctua- should do the job plenty fine and as I'm the sort of person to delete the games I don't play, I feel my 1tb HHD along with the 500gb SSD and the additional 500gb SSD I already own should be plenty.

Thank you a lot for helping me to optimise my purchase :)
