It's a 1080p screen, were you thinking of attaching a secondary screen when you say 4k gaming?

A laptop GPU is far less powerful than a desktop, so 3080 maxq laptop would be equivalent of around a 3070 desktop which would not do well at 4k without reducing setting quite substantially.

I beg to differ here , a RTX 3080 MaxQ at what 80-100 watt ? Would be more closer to an desktop RTX 3060 or even somewhat lower due to TGP restrictions . While it has retained all of non MaxQ CudaCores and Tensor cores , it clocks way lower on both GPU and VRAM and TGP ( power budget ) is substantially lower .
A non MaxQ RTX 3080 ( with the full 165w TGP allowance ) is close to a desktop RTX 3070 while the new Ti version so far seems to scale above it .

If you are set on 4K gaming and you have to have a laptop not a desktop then your best bet at a minimum is to wait for the full fat RTX 3080 chassis to come back into stock or even better see what happens when the RTX 3080TI chassis are released.

This is of course depending upon your budget.

Yeah I know all this is because cards are in demand and I'm not in a particular rush but it would have to be a laptop. Guess I'll have to wait. Till the other chassis are back in.

If you are happy playing games at 2K in very high settings PCS still have laptop options?

You would have to contact PCS to find out when they are expecting stock back in.
