Yeah, but I'm reading this morning that Crowdstrike's price is not plummeting as you'd expect. But the insurance companies shares are.....

I thought this might be a good one for @ubuysa , then noticed it was on a MacBook Air
What people don't realise is that a BSOD is a good thing. Its a protection mechanism designed to prevent data corruption when something unexpected happens.

The problem with Apple, and why I will never buy Apple products, is that it's a deliberately closed system. It's nothing but a cartel designed to winkle as much money from it's devotees as it can.

There are benefits to a closed system though which is why Apple can be quite beneficial for certain workloads.

I‘m not defending it necessarily, I’ve always just gone for the best system and OS at the time I’m purchasing rather than being tied to one. And I’m in complete agreement that the price of entry for apple, and especially for apple care (and their methods to make self repair or 3rd party repair often impossible) is criminal. But this goes for a lot of windows laptops now also, I’m really hoping new EU laws and pressure on US too can reverse this and bring repairability back to the consumer.

i love apple for laptops and audio work, there is no better laptop currently, X86 can’t compete in important areas like battery life, and the other Arm competitors aren’t there yet. But for audio, if you need portability for say a DJ or producer travelling and writing on the go, you can't beat a Macbook for a few reasons, the silence of the system in full load, and the significantly reduced latency over X86, both of those make a MacBook a hands down winner for audio stuff. It is also that Logic Pro X is a firm favorite among a lot of producers as it's an incredibly easy workflow to deal with over some of the competitors, but Linux is swiftly making headway here with DAWS like Reaper.

I do think if Microsoft keep pushing AI that no one wants, more people will move to Linux on x86 which is something I’m currently considering. The only thing that’s prevented me doing so before was gaming performance, but Linux has come a long way in that regard since the valve steamdeck

And it’s embedded on the board, which is criminal and completely unnecessary. They could have the same footprint in a proprietary format so you’d still need to buy it from apple, but these days it could easily be the size of a large stam

remember that from louis rossmann vids

600 for 2tb,

there you go apple

A small re-write of a well-known part of the Rubáiyát of Omar Khayyám (Google it if you have to). It does seem appropriate somehow....

Crowdstrike's developers write; and, having writ,
Move on: nor all your Piety nor Wit
Shall lure them back to cancel half a Line,
Nor all your Tears wash out a Word of it.
And that inverted bowl they call Microsoft,
Whereunder crawling coop'd we live and die,
Lift not your hands to it for help - for It
As impotently moves as you or I.

A guy starts his new job at Blairdrummond safari park and is given three tasks. First is to clear the exotic fish pool of weeds. As he does this a huge fish jumps out and bites him.
He skelps it with a spade and kills it . Realising his boss at the safari park won't be best pleased he feeds the fish to the lions, as lions will eat anything.
Moving on to the second job of clearing keech out of the Chimp enclosure, he is attacked by the chimps who chuck coconuts at him. He swipes at two chimps with a shite shovel killing them both. What can he do? Feed them to the lions, he says to himself, because lions eat anything. He hurls the corpses into the lion enclosure.
He moves on to the last job of the day which is to collect honey from the South American Bees. As soon as he starts he is attacked by the bees. He grabs his shovel and smashes the bees to a pulp. By now he knows what to do and shovels them into the lions den because lions eat anything.
Later that day a new lion arrives at the safari park .
He wanders up to another lion and says "What's the food like here?"
The lions say: "Absolutely brilliant, today we had Fish and Chimps with Mushy Bees........>>>>
