Hi there, throwing a hail mary pass here and hoping someone might be able to help. 11 year old PCS computer that has served me exceptionally well has seemingly breathed her last. I had been starting my research on purchasing a new one later this year and I believe everything important is backed up but wouldn't mind getting her running one last time to be sure. Clearly she's well past her best so I don't want to be spending anything on it as that would also impact my budget on the new one.
Issue - not booting. Power comes on when button is pressed. No 'beep' to signal POST has been completed, no power to USB mouse or keyboard, the mouse has LED lights inside that usually light up whenever it's moved and it works fine on wife's laptop. No signal to monitor (checked and monitor works with PS4). All internal fans working including on CPU and GPU. It does appear to try to access the DVD drive as that is whirring away with no disc inserted, tries this 5-6 times before giving up. You can usually hear the HDD making some noise on boot but it's more or less silent.

The GPU was replaced in Feb 2018 with a GTX 1050TI and I installed an additional 8GB RAM chip 3-4 years ago with no issues on either in the meantime. I have also plugged in an older 250gb SATA III internal hard drive many years ago with no issues. Windows was updated to 10 a long time ago.
My amateur suspicion is the motherboard has given up, there were no noticeable issues leading up to the current problem. I've tried booting with just one of the two RAM chips in place but neither of them made a difference, I've tried removing the CMOS battery for a period of time to reset any BIOS settings and also replacing it with a new one to no avail, the 250gb HDD has Windows 7 installed as far as I can recall and unplugging the main HDD drive to boot from it didn't make any odds although I may have disabled this option from BIOS a while back. As mentioned it seems to be trying to access the DVD drive but disconnecting that from the MOBO makes no difference either. Also tried flushing the power out by unplugging everything and holding the power button.
If anyone has any further suggestions to try then I'm all ears! One final question would be regarding more modern motherboards, would I have any issues plugging the HDD drives (assuming they still work of course) in to something like the ASUS Prime X870 mobo for example just to grab any data and to format them?
