NVidia Strongarming YouTube reviewers

No company should be able to dictate how a product is reviewed.
nvidia has to understand that tech sites are not extensions to their marketing department.
They fully deserved this backlash.
The same holds true for a number of oxygen stealing Vloggers that do reviews of everything from guest houses to tv’s and cars.

a large number use what is to all intents blackmail.

These should also be exposed and. Flogged etc.

A friend of mine used to have a very good cycling vlog on youtube, he found a way of servicing a part that a certain bicycle manufacture, claimed wasn't serviceable and therefore required replacing regularly at about £50 a time, my mate did a vlog on how to service it & in the end was forced to close his youtube channel or be taken to the cleaners by said cycle manufacturer

Tbh when I was following this (I watch hardware unboxed) I didn't think Nvidia was totally in the wrong. In his review comparing the 6800xt and 3080 (I believe this review was the one that was the issue), hardware unboxed almost completely glossed over ray tracing, but not only that they barely used DLSS in their bench marks with the excuse that DLSS isn't used in many games? But I think we can all agree that 99% of all future AAA games and many big games recently released will use/are using DLSS and it is an amazing feature. They looked at SAM (a much more insignificant technology) more than they did DLSS (at least from the big review that I looked at). I mean, Nvidia gave these guys free hardware to review and they glossed over some of the most important parts of that hardware

NVidia were totally wrong, completely indefensibl.

This has been reinforced by the public apology.

it’s also not the first time, Nvidia have a track record and would put money on them doing it again.

Have you got a link to that review? All the reviews I saw specifically highlighted that when dlss was applied that the 3080 far outperformed the 6800xt, it was highlighted in the charts.

Even if it wasn’t, the whole point is it’s an independent review, nvidia can’t determine what the reviewer highlights or not, as that stops it being independent and is paid for, which most people will actively avoid.
