I'm looking to get a new PC with an RTX 3090 - I'm trying to understand what's the best way to do it.

There's no way to pre-order a build with a 30 series GPU? The website says I have to order on the release date.

Would it be best to order a build without GPU and then purchase the GPU separately once it is released? Or to place the order on the GPU release date? Or is there some way to pre-order after all? 🤔

I have the same question. If I can't order a PC with a new GPU until the release date, and there's a few weeks lead time on building the PC, does that mean it's not possible to get one delivered on / close to release date?

Could we build a PC with no graphics card and ask for it to be built and ready, then add the GPU to the order once it's available?

I too have the same query. I would like to build a PC via yourselves, is it possible to spec up a PC and put the order in with a new RTX GPU but wait until the release date to receive the PC. So basically pre-order a PC in anticipation for the new RTX release. I'd feel far happier knowing that I've got an order in.

Alternatively I'd be willing to purchase a PC in advance with no GPU that you certified as guaranteed 3080 ready (in terms of power supply / pci slots / space / cooling capacity etc), then source the GPU when they're available.

This would be another solution, even purchase the 3080 as part of the order and have it posted out when it's released.

Myself i'd like to support PC Specialist and place my entire order through them

If one wants to upgrade their GFX card how does this function work on the site? They just send you the new card and you install it? How does that effect warranty? Cheers.

Yes, you get the option to either send your build on for them to fit, or they’ll ship you the card to fit yourself.

Warranty isn’t affected by you making upgrades, you’re allowed to play with the internals so long as you don’t damage anything in the process. The card warranty would be applied in full separately.

Hi!

Any updates when the RTX 3060Ti will start to ship from PC Specialist?? (I know, it hasn't been released yet!) I'm considering purchasing the 3060Ti, but also not sure how long I want to wait. Personally, I'm not sure about the 'buy now, order video card later' option, as my main use is video editing in Davinci Resolve, which outsources most of its processing / rendering to the GPU...

Thanks very much!

You've kind of answered your own question, it hasn't even been announced yet!

When pre-ordering the build with 3980/3090 it is not specified if it's a FE or any particular AIB card. Does it mean that it is Nvidia Founders Edition? And if not, which one exactly it is? That would make a difference as all the cards are different.

I am interested in getting a RTX 3090 card (has to be Nvidia for AI software) but with the Crashing problem due to decoupling capacitor choice my the manufacture I would like to know which card it is as Zotec come off really bad with no ceramics under the GPU . Palit look better with two banks of ceramics under the GPU. The only other option is to go for the ASUS with all ceramics but this is £100 more expensive.

The standard card will be whatever PCS get delivered (and they won't know until it is delivered/allocated).

The only way to guarantee a specific card is to pony up the extra to buy the Strix on here, or get a specific one from elsewhere.

the capacitor related crashing issue was resolved via drivers weeks ago. but yes, as Tony said, the only way to know for certain is to order a strix, others will be whatever is available first

Just limiting the cards via the driver still leaves the problem that some cards have a small noise margin due to poor decoupling. Capacitor aging could then kill the cards earlier.
