NVIDIA 2070 Super not connected - Vyper 17.3

Hello,

I have a Vyper 17.3 2020 (see specs below). I was playing a game when suddenly I had a hard crash and was informed that my graphic cards was not connected. The device manager says "Currently, this hardware device is not connected to the computer. (Code 45)". After some online research, I did the following:

- ran an SFC scan which didn't help
- removed all NVIDIA drivers and tried re-installing them but the driver couldn't find compatible graphics hardware
- entered this command prompt credit /set pciexpress force disable which didn't work

Have you guys ran into this kind of problems? Would anyone have any suggestions as to how to fix it? Do keep in my mind that I have basic IT abilities - the above operations were a struggle :) Additionally do you have any idea how I managed to end up with this problem and what can be done to make sue it doesn't repeat?

Thanks

Louis

They are free utilities. Google for it and download them.
Still, am I starting to think it might be an hardware failure. Hope I am wrong.

From the BIOS you could also try to switch to dGPU instead of the internal GPU but I wouldn't recommend it too much until you sort out that. Should the dGPU be broken you could not POST it anymore, I guess, not even seeing anything from the screen.
Maybe just go there and check if there is set MSHybrid (aka Optimus) instead of Integrated Graphics (which DISABLES the dGPU). Do not set External Graphics until you're sure it's still working, I guess. MSHybrid is fine, as both are enabled.

Thanks for the quick reply.

GPU-Z is not seeing the graphics card only the integrated one.

I had a quick look at the BIOS: MSHybrid is set as display mode. I do options to choose iGPU only or dGPU only. Since I have no idea what I am doing I haven't tried any of those options.

I have email PCS tech support. I was hoping for a quick fix but this is looking serious.

Yeah. If the GPU is failing you'll get the entire motherboard, where the GPU is soldered into, replaced. Make some backups before sending for RMA
