Not the graphics card I was expecting

I have this morning received my new rig
I am not sure that I’ve got what I ordered, I haven’t called customer care yet because I want to know your view
I ordered Nvidia GeForce etc 2080 super graphics card

the pictures show what was installed

1st it’s only got one fan ( I haven’t seen single picture anywhere on the web with a 2080 super with only 1 fan)
2nd it’s not branded as a 2080 super Anywhere on the case.
3rd it’s a Zotac card (not my first choice) I thought I was getting the proper Nvidia card.
4th should it not have a cover on the circuit board (it looks poor when you look into the glass panel
5th would you be happy with this.
I have not plugged it in yet cos I am not happy and I wanted your opinion.
The only place I can see where it states it is a 2080 super is on the little paper label.

That's definitely the right card. I wouldn't have wanted a blower card either to be fair but unfortunately you are at the mercy of what PCS are currently stocking when your system is being built. We often recommend calling if you want a specific configuration as they may be able to accommodate where requested.

If I was personally purchasing a PC from PCS I would always fit my own GPU, that way I could purchase exactly what I wanted.

For info, this is the GPU you have....

Whilst not many only have one fan a couple do, looking on the NVidia site, the one they're showing from PNY also has one fan
2nd it’s not branded as a 2080 super Anywhere on the case.
Again not all do have it in big letters on them, if you check in the settings once you've started it it will confirm what you have and you can download things like GPU-Z to double check
3rd it’s a Zotac card (not my first choice) I thought I was getting the proper Nvidia card.
It is a proper NVidia card - Zotac are one of the NVidia manufacturers - NVidia themselves until recently never sold them to end users anyways, always to the manufactures - mines a Zotac
4th should it not have a cover on the circuit board (it looks poor when you look into the glass panel
Some do, some don't, depends entirely on which manufacturer made it and which variant of theirs you get, mine also does not have a top cover over the circuit board
5th would you be happy with this.
Given that I know when ordering from PCS that it is not a specified manufacturer and exact model, yes I'd be fine with it.
If you wanted a specific manufacturer/model then you'd have to order the card separately and install yourself as PCS do not guarantee the manufacturer/exact model - or you would have to pick the named GPUs on their configurator (but in my opinion those ones are not worth the price)

Thank you, still don’t know if I am happy or not.
Also Scott if you remember we had the discussion about usb 2 ports and saitek etc, what or where on on my build is the thunderbolt thing that they talk about, I thought the way it was written that it would be an input card on the back of my tower
Thanks for your help

Thank you for your extensive reply, still not sure if I am happy as this card would of probably been the last card I would of chosen given the choice of all the other 2080 rtx super cards there are on the market.

I would give them a call and see what the options are. Thunderbolt tends to look like an oblong with a lightening symbol above it. It should be on the main motherboard area at the rear (potentially on the front next to the USB ports if it has one on the tower).

Just had a look at your specs. You won't have thunderbolt with that Gaming X motherboard as I understand it. It's a fairly basic motherboard that I believe you chose for the USB 2.0 option?

Is there any way of adding extra usb 2 ports I have 2 on the back and 2 on the front however I didn’t really want to plug in on the front for cosmetic reason. As you can imagine I have loads of usb leads from all of my saitek panels and I do have powered extension hubs which total 24 inputs i don’t think you can overload usb inputs can you?
Oh by the way I am pleased with my PC it’s just I think that graphics card is horrible looking with the circuit board on show like that, still haven’t plugged it in yet as I’ve been told by her indoors that we are going out shortly, so tomorrow’s the big day.

Yes, you can add a PCIe card that has USB ports. You can over-saturate a USB port but you won't be able to overload it. They are current limited, and thus power limited, so if there wasn't enough juice reaching the devices they would simply fail.

The powered aspect of the extension hubs has you covered for powering the devices, you are then limited by the data stream limitations of USB2.0.

Before going down that route though, plug the stuff into the USB3.0 ports and see how it goes ;)

There was the option to choose the Asus Rog Strix in the configurator or as others have stated, buy and install your own, which is what I did. The forum has plenty of posts that state Zotac/Palit are the cards of choice for PCS. Wouldn't be my choice I might add...

Micheal could you let us know how it goes, as I’ve ordered a 2080 super as well. Also mines still in testing, isit worth giving them a call about it ?

My pc is in pre production and I also ordered the 2080 super which I assumed would be the founders addition. So glad you posted this to the forum as I would not be happy with that zotac card. Just amended to the asus rog strix, more money but at least I know what I'm getting. Thanks again for your post (y)

I didn't get a 2080 TI, But i did end up with a Zotac card. and to be honest it would't have been my first or even last choice either. However i am going to say i am really happy with it. It overclocks really well when i run GPU benchmark tests its almost always in the top 10% for cards of it's type. It might be worth doing a little research and finding out how the Zotac 2080 TI scores. Have to admit i'm a little surprised there isn't a pcb cover on it tho.

I'm in the minority where Zotac would be (and has been) my choice. They are great cards IMO, the multiple fan versions at least. They overclock great and always score really highly. Price vs performance they are often on top.

I saved a quote this week and also assumed they were Founders editions as the header on the drop down says Nvidia. I emailed them and they confirmed the current stock is dual fan Zotac, and they get stock from there or Palit, you unfortunately must have got a single fan version!
I also didn't want either of these brands so added an Asus ROG, its more expensive but its 3 fan and I know what I'm getting.

The main reason i switched to the 1660SUPER instead and with the idea to upgrade some months down the line myself was because the stock for the 2060SUPER PCS were offering. Mini cards by Zotac. The situation with the 1660SUPER isn't different at all just the manufacturer - Palit single fan card. Buying on finance doesn't allow me any other options atm but if anyone is wondering what the 1660S looks like here it is:

When I asked about cards a few days ago I was told they are currently using a dual fan Zotac for the 2070 Super, and generally they have Zotac or Palit for the generic 2060/2070/2080 cards. Its only if you buy a named one (like the Asus Strix GPU) thta you get a high spec card from that model/version.

They also cost about another £200.

If you can speak to them a day or two before it goes into building, they will let you know whats been allocated. Not sure if you can pick between whatever they have if more than one model is in the general stock
