Hi, so I'm getting a custom pc on behalf of make a wish and i have a few questions ...
are the custom pc's prebuilt? i may be missing something really obvious but i'm honestly not sure if they come as just parts or are prebuilt.
secondly, if they do come as parts ... can all chosen parts fit in any case, or does the size of the case matter?

thank you :)

Yes, they come fully assembled, plus if you order with windows, it will be fully setup and all configured, so you just turn it on and go, nothing for you to do other than plug in monitor and mouse and keyboard.

I would suggest getting advice on components as different components have different use cases. It's not the case that you can just configure anthing, it all matches your use case and budget.

With that in mind, what's your max budget and what are you using it for?

My max budget is £2500 for the whole setup ... but I decided £2100 max for the pc. I’ll be using it for games primarily ... some work but 99% video games

Does that sound like an good configuration?

That build wouldn't work, the board isn't suitable for the processor and it would just burn out. There are various other issues with it also.

ah ok, that's sad. do you know any boards that would work with the Ryzen 9? Or any other workarounds of the other issues?

There’s no benefit to the Ryzen 9 for what you’ve said you’ll be using it for. Other than 1080p very high refresh, any cpu from a £100 3300x to a £500 10900k is going to behave very much the same as the workload is shifted to the GPU.

The 3900x would be wasted on this build.

ohh ok thank you, atm i have a core i5 and i've had a lot of problems with it when playing games in the past (system memory etc.) and so just wanted a really good processor this time, similar to an i9. would an AMD Ryzen 7 3800XT work? Or am i just being stupid again? You can tell i'm not great at this 😅

Edit: taking away the razen 9 has given me more money to spend on the motherboard etc. would a ryzen 7 3800XT (doesnt have to be T on end) be suitable for asus corsshair viii hero?

As above, above 1080p, there's very little difference between almost any processor for gaming as the load is transferred to the GPU, so doesn't matter if you spec a really basic processor or the most expensive i9, they'll offer the same performance.

The "system memory" issue you are having on your current system has nothing to do with the processor, that's a RAM issue.

The build I specced is where you want to be balance wise. Obviously you can adjust storage and case and peripherals as you want but the core platform is solid.

If you're getting a 1080p monitor then that build is no good.

1080p is extremely poor by todays standards, it's only used on extreme budget builds.

The spec I posted had a 1440 ultrawide which is just far superior.

If you're set on getting 1080p screen (which I would strongly advise against) then you can lower the GPU to the 1660 Super, anything more just won't be used.

Building a PC is not about speccing the most powerful components, each component fits a certain use case and budget, it's about maximising the components to fit those criteria. You could spec really high end components costing thousands of pounds, but it wouldn't give any more performance that one costing very little.

It all has to balance together.

so if i were to get a 1440p monitor it would be a good build? only concern for that is the budget ... as most 1440 monitors are £300 minimum.
Looking at currys now for 1440p monitors and i defo agree with 1080p being very poor, so will probably get one, and cut down on the motherboard; which one do you recommend for my build? Should i go back to the GIGABYTE B450 AORUS ELITE.

You're a Godsend! ... never would have occured to me about balance etc.

The one I posted above isn't 1440p it's 1440 ultrawide. 1440p is 2560 x 1440, an ultrawide is just under 4k at 3440 x 1440.

The build I posted and monitor both come within budget.

LexiLndn

Bronze Level Poster
Unfortunately ultrawide monitors go from £600-£2000 ... which is outside of the budget for a monitor. i think im gonna stay on the 2560x1440 path ... an still get a powerful pc ... as in the future i might have the money to buy an ultrawide.
However even 1440 is a stretch. The following mointor:
MSI Optix G24C4 Full HD 24" Curved LED Gaming Monitor - Black, 1080p, 144hz, 1 ms, £169

was what i was originally going to go for. i also do a lot of art work, digital, and need a lot of space for that, so a big monitor wont be really useful to me, despite having a powerful pc.

I'm not very confident on the motherboard side of things; does the ASUS® ROG STRIX X570-F GAMING fit my build better than the GIGABYTE B450 AORUS ELITE or ASUS® CROSSHAIR VIII HERO
