No sound on headset

Hello

I have been using my headset on my laptop with no issues. However after not using them for a couple of weeks, today I simply cannot get sound out of them. They work fine on everything else, but when plugged in to the laptop, no sound what so ever.
I have tried everything I possibly can but to no avail.

Has anyone else had this issue? any known issues that can fix it. Any help is greatly appreciated.

thanks
Dal

No nothing. I have used my phone headphones and nothing on them either.
so it has to be either a hardware issue or software issue, but I am at loss at to what.... very frustrating.

I'm assuming that you get sound from the laptop speakers?

Can you open the Realtek HD Audio Manager? Go to the Control Panel (it's in Start Menu > Windows > Windows System) and click on the Realtek HD Audio Manager icon.

When that opens, along the bottom are coloured circles representing the output and input sockets you have. Normally they are dimmed but when you plug the headphones in does the appropriate socket brighten up? If it does then the Realktek audio driver knows that your headphones are there (that makes it likely it's a software or config issue).

Now click on the gear icon in the Realtek HD Audio Manager and select Option. Post a screenshot of that page - I'm not sure what options you get on a laptop.

Sorry I have not got back sooner. Ok so this problem still exists. The workaround is that I have to uninstall the Realtek(R) Audio driver, reboot, reinstall and it works. Royal pain the the rear though, and not something one should have to do. :(

You have to do that every time?
