What do you want to use it for, what monitor specs (resolution & refresh rate or make and model), what's your budget, and can you include the configuration link

we need a bit more detail on the monitor & need a budget, as no point us speccing something that you can't afford

Yea no problem thanks for the help, What else do you need to know about the monitor? I know it's 144hz 1ms but not much else but again im happy to upgrade it to get 240, budget around what that spec is 3500-4000

anything at 1080p is going to be completely wasted on that build, you'd be looking at 4k 144hz but that would cost around £1000 just for the monitor.

If we can have the make and model?

What resolution is it? 1080p? 1440p? 4K? And I'd highly recommend upping the resolution before you up the refresh rate (240hz is pointless for most people)

So the pc build is good and I should just focus on a new monitor now? Or would you change anything in that build?
So what's the best monitor specs I should be looking at? I'm fast learning I know nothing about this stuff. I don't mind the cost I just want the best stuff available

There's a lot I'd change about the build, but it's just pointless spending £1000+ on a GPU if you've got a 1080p 144hz monitor which would run fine on a GPU for a third of the price. If you've got a £3500-£4000 budget, we could just recommend a PC and monitor pairing for that money? Then you could use the monitor you have currently as a secondary monitor

Well I don't really want to go over 4000 for the pc and I'll happily spend 1000 on a new monitor, like you say I can have this one as a secondary, I'm just clueless my current set up I got 2nd hand so dont really know any of the specs, the GPU probably is a 3rd of the price and that's fine for this monitor but if im upgrading I want the best available so give me all your recommendations what would you change about the build and what kind of monitor would you pair with it?

I can't even get to £4,000 on a build, not even close. I'd recommend going 12th gen- 11th gen was a bad generation, especially at the top end. This system should be an absolute beast for you. I'll let others recommend high end 4K 144hz monitors, it's not an area I'm too clued up on. Any questions, ask away!

Thanks when you say you can't get to 4000 do you mean its overkill? Also when you say you'd recommend 11th gen over 12 do you mean the CPU?

Yes. It simply doesn't make sense to spend £4K on a PC for your needs, you're talking about diminishing returns after the point were at now. And yes, 11th gen Intel was poor, 12th gen intel is the current generation and significantly better

Thank you thats alot more knowledge then I had earlier on, I assumed the more I spent the better the performance, last question would that run all current games like halo and warzone at 240fps?

There's no such thing as 4k 240Hz yet, doesn't exist.

One has been announced, but it's not going to be released for some time

But 240Hz is largely pointless anyway, resolution balanced with gaming 144Hz is far better.

Just a note on what 240Hz does. It doesn't improve graphics at all whatsoever, all it does is give you an extra 2.7ms reaction time, but 99% of humans can't react in that time anyway.

Thank you this is all so helpful, well the link below is the Monitor my friend recommended to me

That's a 1440p monitor.

Why do you want 240Hz? Do you understand the link above? Have you ever gamed at high refresh?

Being completely honest with you I've looked at that link twice it gone in but I don't understand much of any of this stuff, my friend swears by this monitor he's being saving for it since Christmas and says this is the one to get im clueless saying to me that's a 1440p monitor is like speaking Chinese to me

So, either listen to your friend, who I'd suggest has watched a little too much YouTube and some influencer has said 240Hz will make you a better gamer who has just been paid $2 million to say those words without knowing what the hell they're talking about. I'm afraid these influencers will say anything for a paycheck, they don't care about you guys getting the most out of your system.

As above, 240Hz does zero for graphics. The idea is you reduce graphics settings to their lowest possible so it looks absolutely dreadful, but runs really fast. It's not about looks, all it does is give 2.7ms extra response time.

The monitor your friend recommended is a great monitor, but not because it's 240Hz at all, that makes no difference. If your friend played on the same monitor capped at 144Hz, I guarantee he wouldn't notice the difference. Unless he is an actual competitive gamer in which case he's earning enough to know that he's one of a very small minority of super humans with incredible response times and vision.

Resolution plus 144Hz is a far more valuable experience than 240hz
